http://celticsblog.net/blog/ <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to Chad Ford: Multiple sources told me last night that those talks are real. The Blazers and Celtics have discussed a trade that would send Sebastian Telfair to Boston for Dan Dickau and the No. 7 pick. The Blazers asked for Dickau?s medical records to see how he?s healing from his Achilles? tendon injury. The thinking as of late last night was that if Dickau checks out medically, the Blazers would seriously consider pulling the trigger on the deal. If he doesn?t, they may come back and ask for more compensation.</div> OK, I would like Telfair, but for #7? Dickau I could care less about, it just matches up the contracts and he wouldn't be playing much at all next year anyway. But I think we could package the pick with a player or 2 and get better than just Sebastian Telfair. I wouldn't be very happy if we traded Dickau and #7 for just Telfair. EDIT: Now that I think about it actually, if Telfair was in the draft this year he would be a top 5 pick and the best PG in this draft. This might not be so bad if true, considering we dump Dickau and add a young PG who is quick, has good vision, and runs the floor, and also has a lot of upside. Hmmm. I don't know I have mixed feelings. I feel we may be able to get a better deal out there if we package #7, but if we can't, then why not? I trust Ainge's decision.
Chad Ford is so full of crap it leaks out of his eyes when he's on ESPN. Danny Ainge isn't this crazy.
This isn't even a bad deal. Telfair > 2006 PG Draftee And we dump Dickau. I like it and most Celtics fans at CelticsBlog like it too. I wouldn't mind this at all. And Chad Ford does leak a lot of info, but it's all true inside info and this is the 2nd person that has mentioned this trade on the net. I believe him, and I believe it is at least being discussed if anything. Note: Danny Ainge really liked Telfair in the 04 draft and rumor had it Telfair was on his top 3 list of candidates at pick #15.
Oh hell no. This is a horrible deal. The Celts could get much better value than Telfair for #7. If they're serious about building around Pierce than why trade for a player that's worse than Steve Blake and Juan Dixon? He may develop into something eventually, but that'd waste the prime of Pierce's career. Either trade Pierce and rebuild or build around him. Trying to do both at the same time will only continue to land them in the late lottery.

But, if not, I say why not pull the trigger on this deal? But, I would try and give them the Cleveland pick instead.
I would rather have Marcus Williams then Telfair, so if that's what they plan on doing with the pick then I'm not really in favor of that. I guess it would get rid of Dickau.

He'd give much more help immediately than Telfair.
Telfiar is shady, Marcus Williams has more to offer than Telfair does and since he played at college he's probably more ready than Telfair is. Sebs can't shoot, from what I've seen him he does have decent point guard instincts but I still say he'll turn out to be another victim of being over-hyped. I would take Marcus Williams or whatever better available player would be coming out of this draft.
I don't like this at all, I think Marcus Williams, Randy Foye and Rajon Rondo are all better PG prospects. I just think the player the Celtics get at #7 is much more than Sebastian Telfair can bring, i've just never been a big fan of his. Hopefully this is just a silly rumor because if this does happen I don't know what to think of Danny Ainge. The fact that the Blazers are willing to offer this just tells you that they know they can get a better player, the fact that they are so ready to give up him Telfair tells you all you need to know...unless this rumor is false.
