The first part of this video says exactly what I said - it was not the Mavs defense that was great in the 3rd quarter - it was our streaky shooters going on an off-shooting streak.
Awesome analysis. One interesting thing I hadn't noticed was that Camby was sitting throughout our run. With Roy on fire and Aldridge doing his thing, it makes it really tough for Dallas to know who to guard with Chandler and Dirk. They just seemed to get out of their normal defense as Dirk had to a play a much more active role in guarding the pick-and-roll and covering LA or Gerald, instead of just hiding out on Camby.
Did you also notice that there was a scorer at every position? It's truly hard to play defense on that. There isn't a player that you can slack off of. I really liked when they had Roy, Matthews, Batum, Wallace and Aldridge. Very quick, and any one player can score. <--- I know we need Miller, so I'm not advocating anything.
Even basics stats from synergy sports would show these tendencies so I m guessing that Blazers are well aware of what this guy is saying.
My only question is: are the statistics about what side Dirk posts up on from the playoffs only or from the entire season. He mentioned that he has analyzed Dirk's entire season but didn't say specifically that's what the statistics covered. If they were season statistics, then I think Portland coaching staff has that info. But it does seem that they aren't doing anything with the info. I think the guy's analysis is a little simplistic as far as Jason Kidd's shooting; it's as if he is saying that if you make a few shots, you should stop shooting because the averages will catch up with you. Doesn't seem to take into account that a lot of times a guy makes a few shots and it helps his confidence and he makes a ton of them for the night; e.g. Brandon Roy in the same game or Matthews when he has a good night.
I thought the defense on Nowitzki was stellar in Game 4, even when the team was getting killed. I'll take a 7-17 night from Dirk in every game.
