If it was inconclusive, it should have stayed Mavs ball. But the refs must have seen something or an angle that we didn't see to believe that it should have been overturned.
I really liked this analysis of several game 4 calls from "refcalls": I disagree with their conclusion on the Wallace-Nowitzki charge call, but otherwise, I think they do a pretty good job in this.
I thought it was fifty-fifty at best and there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call ... but I'm pretty sure it was in the script for Hulk Hogan to break out of Andre the Giant's sleeper hold at that point in the match, so what can you do?
I agree. I was probably the right call, but since they called it Dallas ball on the floor, I think they should have kept it that way because of the lack of hard proof
looking at the out of bounds play, someone blows a whistle before it even goes out of bounds, probably to call a loose ball foul on chandler. then some asshat ref calls dallas ball....so he then decides with his bros to just award the ball to portland instead. boom. yeah the whistle definitely blows before the ball hits out of bounds.
That's only the rule in football, not basketball, that the call at the time matters and only overwhelming evidence should overturn. My understanding is that in the NBA, if they review it, the original call is wiped away and they're making an entirely new call. So there is no issue of "not enough evidence to overturn."
If Cuban isnt crying about the call, then it must have been the right call. If it was even questionable, he'd be crying like a baby.
In all fairness, he was hooked up to an IV and was on life support on the closing minute of the game. I think the "OMG is this really happening" set in and he wasn't thinking about anything but "Here we go again!"
Wow... after looking at this now... the correct call should have been foul on Chandler. =) Usually when you see that happen if they don't call the foul they give the ball to the team with inside position regardless.
