The refs screwed us for two quarters and eight minutes then the mavericks just killed us after that. If we can won at home we can take dallas out game seven if we box out and don't let them destroy us on the offensive boards.

blazer fans on thursday in the RG, if the mavs are up in game 6 and are going to the next round, at least have the common decency to start a BEAT LA chant.

You'll jump back on the bandwagon if they do win, though.

I just hope that the Blazers show up for game 6. Dallas knows what it takes to beat Portland, and if they get 3 times as many foul shots (before the game is decided), they'll have the game and series by halftime.

I don't want be hyperbolic, but I really hope the Blazers nut up and actually try to rebound. Foul hard, make them earn the win. They didn't make Dallas work hard at all in the 2nd half. They wilted under pressure and stopped playing like a team that cares.

Yup -- that first half was a kick to the balls. The reward for taking hard contact while going to the rim is supposed to be free throws, and we got next to nothing for our efforts. A playoff-caliber team would take that first half and keep doing what it was supposed to do, but we backed off and tried to win from long-range. Game over.

True on the defensive rebounds... but our guys just stood and watched on the offensive end. No effort at all.

I would probably stop trying too if I was getting jobbed by the refs like they were.

I go with the "rebounding generates offense" theory, not to mention taking about 10-12 points away from the Mavs due to 2nd and 3rd possessions.

The Mavs have come up with some good defensive schemes to deny Aldridge and Roy the ball in places that they like to get it. They're basically daring our outside shooters to make some shots and they just can't do it.

Not surprising with Nate barking shit at them from the sideline every few seconds.

These guys are over thinking. McMillan is in their heads and it's destroying any sense of free flowing, adaptable & rhythmic basketball they may have had in them.
Till the 'Sarges' regime is uninstitutionalized from our team, they will be a team that is not 'playing' basketball, but 'thinking' about it far too much.

(P.S. Hey Nate: Your playing days are over, so stop trying to play by proxy from the sideline. Shut up & let the 'men' make their own decisions on the court)

I've seen valid criticisms of Nate-ball, but this one's a stretch.

And slight New Orleans? Bad form.

We are in the playoffs, have won two playoff games, and are still very much in the series.

    Utah Jazz= not a playoff-caliber team

    Portland Trail Blazers= a playoff-caliber team

Figures our team would take exception to a hard pick. God knows they don't set them. Looked like a good basketball play by Cardinal, and the Blazers should have told Patty it was coming

I don't have a problem with the pick because Patty's teammates should have called it out, but there was no need for that at that particular time and score. I can see why Wes and Co. are pissed.

I sincerely hope that pick gets them pissed off enough to actually punch Dallas in the mouth a couple of times in the next game.

I was hoping Gerald Wallace would do some of that but he hasn't had much of an opportunity to do so.

This is the type of situation where I really miss healthy Joel.
Not only would he punk Cardinal at the first opportunity, he would get into Chandler's head.

And Joel can actually set a pick.
Not one dude on Portland can really set a nasty pick right now.

Point taken -- I meant to say playoff series winning team. We certainly belong in the playoffs, and I didn't mean to say otherwise. It's just that it would be hard for any team to advance with the kinds of scoring droughts that we've endured, regardless of the crappy reffing.

If we do win the series (which we still can), it will be because we have either rediscovered our three-point shooting to keep Dallas honest, or we've found some other way to get through those bad-shooting stretches.
