smart way to integrate the much needed speed on the outside http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2011/04/oregon_football_help_is_on_the.html STOMP
If even a couple of those WR's pan out... add two good TE's, 3 quality running backs and this offense is unfair.
So... we wanna take a guess who redshirts? If they were robots, it seems like it'd make sense for two of them to be... (and, as an aside, for De'Anthony Thomas to move to CB). But are any of those new WRs gonna redshirt this year? I know it's early but I'd love to hear the thinking of the board on this. Ed O.
Hard to tell at this point. Blackmon has more size than Sumler, but reports were saying (from the AA games) that Sumler ran more polished routes. Vaughn I would think would stand a decent chance at early playing time, just with the age difference. I'd guess that 2 of the 3 between Blackmon, Sumler, and BJ Kelley redshirt. And 1 plays some, and Vaughn gets a good chunk of time. Tuinei, Huff, Hawkins (position change) Vaughn, Dungy, and Hoffman would be the main rotation guys at WR I think and sprinkle in whomever doesnt redshirt. IMO of course.
My guess is that Vaughn has the best chance of playing this year as being a top Jr college transfer he's probably the most physically and mentally mature of the group. Oregon requires a lot of blocking from it's WRs and at 190 pounds Vaughn is by far the biggest of the 4. Also I read a quote from Thomas that he and Rahsaan talk on the phone almost daily. Kelley is probably the most likely to redshirt as he's making the biggest jump in competition. I could see Blackmon and/or Sumler redshirting as well depending on injuries. btw... the Ducks are absolutely loaded with young talent at CB too STOMP
Granted Huff & Lowe didn't play and those two are probably their fastest returning WRs, but after watching the Spring game today I'd guess that the incoming guys are even more excited about their opportunity. Tuinei looked solid, but the rest struggled to separate from coverage and catch the ball. STOMP
