Wow I didn't know Welsey was so low! And to think of it, if Batum didn't play well last night; he would be even lower than Wesley. I think my surprise is Roy and CJ is actually a "non-factor" IMO, since he played such limited minutes. Just proves that Miller has been the MVP of this series.
Remember a year ago when there were all the Gerald Wallace rumors but we'd have to give up Batum? Right now its looking like Dante could do better than both!
I disagree with this. Yes, it's a "small sample size", but his short stints have been significant and effective. He was a major contributor to the game 3 win, and our best stretch in game 5 was when he played in the 2nd quarter. Considering how badly we're getting destroyed on the backboards, and how fearlessly the Mavs attack us in the paint, I think more CJ would be a good thing.
CJ has been effective and a very pleasant surprise in his limited minutes. I don't think him playing had an effect on the ultimate outcome of either game and thus I would have to classify it as irrelevant. I believe we still win game 3 without Chris. Miller/Roy/LaMarcus did good things in our wins and I believe we don't have 2 wins without their performances. Likewise Gerald, Batum and Matthews have been very bad for stretches and we probably have more than two wins if they had played very well. That’s why I think everyone’s PER has significance except for Chris Johnsons. It sure would be interesting to see what happens if Chris gets extended time in one of these last two games but my brain tells me its silly to mess with lineups even if certain players have struggled for 5 games. Batum and especially Wallace played great all season, should Chris really get minutes over those two right now due to 14 minutes of better than expected play? If Camby or LaMarcus has foul trouble then I could see Nate giving Chris some minutes but outside of that I don’t think you can reduce minutes from your top 7 players at this point in the season.
Play CJ, Fuck the small lineup, anytime camby or aldridge sits put in CJ, he has definately been a spark everytime hes in the game. I know dallas is hoping he doesnt get in the game, he blocks there shot or blocks them out everytime hes in the game.
This is debatable, to be sure. We were +7 in the 6 minutes he played in game 3, a game we won by 5 points. He blocked 2 shots in his 6 minutes. I think it's very possible that we lose that game without his contribution. As for game 5, Johnson's +12 in 6 minutes and Chandler's 13 offensive rebounds both suggest that while he didn't have "an ultimate effect on the outcome", perhaps additional run for him in the 3rd/4th might have had an impact. IMO, Dallas wants us to play small, so I would rather we do the opposite. No, I wouldn't reduce Batum or Wallace's minutes, but I sure wouldn't mind seeing Rudy's minutes go down in favor of more CJ.
As a comparison, for DAL: Dirk - 23.3 Kidd- 22.5 Terry- 18.7 Peja- 16.4 - WTF Marion- 15.7 Chandler -15.1 Haywood- 11.6 Stevenson- 4.7 Barea- 1.2 - LOL

Right on. I'd add that if you want to make a list of our top "slashers" on this team, it's the same people. Plus Andre Miller. Yet why is it Miller is the only guy who seems to regularly drive into the paint? Wallace, Batum and Wesley need to realize that they can get right by Peja/Terry/Dirk/Barea when they are 20 feet out. Sure Chandler's there at the rim, but he's also got to worry about Aldridge on the offensive board or the drive-and-dish. If he hesitates on coming over to block, drive into the fucker and draw the blocking foul. If he does try to block it, lob it high for Aldridge or kick it back out. Other than Marion and Stevenson, they have mediocre (Kidd) to lousy (everyone else) defenders on the perimeter. Dribble penetration is right there waiting to happen on so many plays, and yet our guys just don't take advantage of it. I'm especially disappointed in Wallace in this regard.
Miller doesn't play defense. I was replying to the post that said the he doesn't play how we want him to play. That's true for me. I want a PG that plays defense. At present, Miller is the best option, though.
I think Miller did a fine job so far. You are entitled to your opinion though. Personally, I think Miller is a very underrated defender.
He's not a good man defender anymore, as he's lost lateral quickness. He's a pretty good team defender. He's very good with rotations and doubles.
