<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>D'Antoni Says Team Is Taking Calls About Marion, But Won't Be Dealt 27th June, 2006 - 10:29 pm Arizona Republic - Despite rumors that indicate the Suns have had serious discussions regarding a deal where Shawn Marion would be traded out of Phoenix, Mike D'Antoni said on Tuesday that he would not be traded. "We've taken some calls about him. We've taken them about every night," D'Antoni said, "but nothing is going to happen." [READ]</div> I love putting all these dumb rumors to rest.
There is a rumor every year just like Jesse Nunez said, and nothing has ever gone down. I don't believe it will, Marion is just too valuable to the team and he is one of the only players on the team that actually understands defense.
If you don't think Marion will be traded for the right offer you must be joking. If the Suns get a good offer for Marion, he is as good as gone but that has yet to happen and probably won't.
It's almost a gurantee in my opinion that Marion will be gone within the next 2 years. I just got home from my vacation 30 minutes ago so I'm to tired to say anything more until tommorow afternoon.
I agree with Heatfan32... am I the only one that is worried about how crowded the Suns are, and how their salary situation may play out? I just think they're waiting for a good offer.
But Boris and Leandro need to be signed. What's the deal with them then?If the deal is good enough, PHX will bite. But Marion is one of the most valuable players in the league. He's so versitale, and he could be a franchise player.
I don't want to argue with you since he's not gone yet, but Marion would not be the #1 option on any team. He is unable to create for himself or for others, he's not really much of a leader either. He complains too much and he doesen't know how good he's had it here with the point guards to set him up and the talent around him. Him wanting to be "the man" will be making the same mistake Joe Johnson made. He needs to just shut up and play and realize that he does get the respect he deserves and he has a chance to win the championship here. He is not a #1 or a #2 option. He is a good #3 and will be a great #4 option for us if he stays. Another problem with him is, he thrives off of his athletic ability and he is getting older. He's had knee surgery before and the older he gets the less he'll be able to use his great athleticism. He's also getting payed way too much for a 3rd or 4th option. I love what he's done for the team and he is perfect for our style but if the right deal comes he is as good as gone.As for Diaw, he has the potential to be an incredible player and he has to be signed to an extension. The only way he'll be able to stay though would be if the Suns make some salary room. I don't think the Suns should get rid of Marion this year because of his importance to the team and not knowing how good Diaw or Amare will be, but hopefully in 2 years the Suns get a good deal and send Marion off with his championship ring. I think that getting Diaw has made him more expendable for the future.
