Wow - I thought it might be a Spurs-Celtics final. I certainly didn't foresee us outlasting the Spurs in the playoffs in my most optimistic moments. What the hell happened? Was Duncan's injury worse than we thought? (Alternatively: think what Memphis's record could have been if Rudy Gay had been out all season! They could have made top 4 in the West.) It's kind of sad to see the end of an era. The Spurs were the dynasty I least disliked. Does Marc have current bragging rights in the Gasol household? Is Chris Wallace vindicated (apart from for the Rudy Gay contract)?
Window just slammed shut. It mostly depended on Duncan and he's a shadow of his prime self. Add in the fragility of Parker and Ginobili and you have a good team who's no longer a contender.
The Spurs suck now. How they pulled off the regular season they had is beyond me. They have no size and Duncan just can't do it anymore. Parker has always been overrated and Ginobili is injury-prone. I've always felt that Popovich is overrated as well.
Who would have thought Lionel Hollins could do this? It shows that it'd be pretty easy to replace McMillan.
I think he's implying he thinks even if they win this game they won't make it very far. Also, it might have just been someone's opinion, but I thought I saw that the Grizzlies were better this year without Gay. Anyone know what their records were?
Did anyone have the Spurs going anywhere? I openly advocated tanking to get the Spurs on this board, but of course, I was shouted down, because "champions" don't tank games for a playoff seeding. Somebody had better tell Lionel Hollins this, because I think he made a mistake! :MARIS61:
It's funny how the last time an 8th seed beat a #1 seed, it was exciting and all over TV. This time, it's like "ho hum..."
