    Fire Nate.

    Bring back Rick.

    Simple solution.

There is a better chance that Oden will play 82 games next season than Nate getting fired. As much as the vocal minority hates him, they need to come to grips with the fact that he won't be fired during the off-season.

Not after signing that 2-year extension.

He probably would have got canned without the extension though.

I agree with both statements. I wouldn't be shocked if he would've wanted to go elsewhere as he's constantly trying to piecemeal a team and never gets to set a rotation for more than a month.

That would be true for a normal, cheap owner. Paul Allen could be persuaded otherwise, like by a fan vote. A year ago, only 61% wanted Nate back. If it drops to like 40% this year, maybe Paul would consider it. Then it would be a vocal majority, not a very large vocal minority like a year ago.

Show me one example of an NBA coach getting fired before coaching his first game the season following the year he was award an extension. I suppose there are firsts for everything, but I would count on Greg being healthy all next season, Miller becoming a good 3 point shooter, and Rudy getting his head on straight as things more likely to happen than Nate getting fired between now and Christmas.

Show me one example of this set of events: It was stupid to give an NBA coach an extension, the owner is the biggest spender in the league, the city has an annual poll, and that poll shows that most fans want the coach fired. (That's what the poll will probably show, since 39% wanted him fired a year ago.)

A first result is easy when you have the first incidence of a particular set of events causing that result. First time for the cause, first time for the result.

Why doesn't he just fire his staff and hire the fans?

    Nate isn't getting fired.

The best spin you can put on this, is that the team believes next season will be cancelled, or cut so short as to be a meaningless fustercluck...so who cares who the coach is?

Pretty feeble, but it's the best I can do at putting a positive spin on this situation.

There's a first time for everything. Do you not see similarities in all three of the last playoff series?

If he's here next season, I think threads like this will be very frequent. Everyone will know he's a lame duck, soon to be fired. He'll have an image like Stern's. Like, leave, already, you've been here long enough, what's the point, are we trying to set the record?

"Our Coach Sucks" threads are frequent on almost every board. It's the easy thing to say if a team doesn't win.

    Nutshell, right there.

The Blazers don't have a consistent go-to guy in the 4th quarter; the Mavs do. When the Blazers did have that guy against Houston, the rest of the team wasn't ready for playoff basketball.

Show me one example of an NBA coach getting a 2 year extension after 6 consecutive years with NO PLAYOFF SUCCESS.

Any chance in Rick's advanced age he'd want to be an assistant? He still lives here, right?

Maybe after McMillan finishes his 8 years (it's now 2013) and they give him an 8-year extension (it's now 2021). Blazer diehards will want to wait till Paul Allen's yacht sinks (it's now 2096).
