Gerald was fantastic last night. He's the biggest reason I have renewed hope in the Blazers near-term future.

I think he made a difference, he was the best player on the court and it wasnt even close. Gerald Wallace is one of the biggest difference makers in the NBA.

Gerald Wallace almost single-handily kept our season alive last night lol.

I'm convinced if he would have been available in the 2nd quarter, we wouldn't have fallen behind and would have won the game.

And you probably think Brandon Roy is still a great player because he scored 24 points the other night!

One game is one game. Period. If Wallace had played this way the entire series, we would have won it, or at least be going to Dallas for Game 7.

If only they played some games prior to the playoffs, so we would have more to go on in this fine "debate" than a six game sample. Because if Wallace had played any games for Portland before this series began, we could look at those, too, and determine if it was just "one game."

Sadly, as Shooter knows, there were no games that Wallace played for Portland prior to this series.

Playoff performance only matters for coaches and scrubs like Steve BLANKY. Proven regular season players who can't win in the playoffs get a pass.

He didn't have a good series, and he'll be the first to admit that. None of the blazers had a good series. I saw a drop off in every one of them except for Andre Miller.

He actually did have a pretty good series, at leats in terms of PER. What I saw last night makes me think that he could have had a great series, which is what the Blazers needed him to have. Not his fault at all, and even when his offense was poor, he was still hitting the boards better than anybody else in red, white, and black.

All the games matter, for every player. BLANKY was BLANKY no matter whether the prime-time lights were on or not.

And no individual player can win in the playoffs. Not even Michael Jordan. Only teams can win in the playoffs.

Exactly right. No playoff games. And we're talking about the playoffs.

Absolutely right. This six-game sample definitely shows that Gerald Wallace is not a difference-maker in 2011 playoff series for Portland. If ever the Blazers play another 2011 playoff series, in future years, we can be sure Wallace won't be a difference-maker.

Thankfully, it's unlikely Portland will ever make the 2011 NBA playoffs again after this year. Next season, we can see how he does in a new 4-7 game sample!

Well, as well as Gerald played, the success of the team says he wasn't a difference-maker in the playoffs, compared to the two previous years without him.

    I guess isn't a difference-maker on the team then?

I was agreeing that he wasn't a difference-maker in this series. What I was suggesting was silly was the idea that 6 games are representative of whether he's a difference-maker overall for the team. Anyone can have a down series (or down 5 games, really, since he was an impact player in game 6).

I don't think it'll take Portland 16 games to lose in the first round. I guess I just have more faith in the Blazers than you do. :dunno:

3 straight seasons with a 2-4 record in the play-offs. Adding Wallace didn't make a difference. Neither did adding Miller or Camby, nor losing Oden and Roy.

The cold facts suggest that nobody on this team is a "difference maker." The alternative explanation is that the coach isn't getting the most out of these players. Take your pick.
