No, this isn't OT. It's a statement to all of you people who constantly say "For all of you that want to get rid of Nate, who is a better option that is available"

Thibodeau was anassistant last year with the Celtics. An "unproven" assistant that many of you same people thought wasn't more qualified than Mr. Sonic. Another "unproven" guy available right now is Mike Budenholzer in SA. So enough with the "who out there is better" shit. Many, many assistant coaches are more than qualified to do a fantastic job. Monty Williams is another prime example

    Congrats to him.

I'd like to see how Nate would coach with Rose on the team.

Btw, for every Thibodeau, there are 12 Kurt Rambis', Marc Ivaroni and Dwayne Caseys.

Couldn't agree with you more. Certainly not all assistants are better qualified

Ummm...Thibodeau wasn't going anywhere other than Chicago or another high profile team. Also I am willing to bet a large sum of money the Spurs have told Budenholzer that he will take over when Popovich retires, which is going to be sooner than later. You want to start throwing out realistic options?

Thibs was an assistant for over 20 years, you don't think he was gettable for Portland at any point?

Obviously Portland was the only team that passed over Thibs in those 20 years.

The Bulls passed on him to sign Del Negro three seasons ago.

Rose even made Del Negro look good.

sorry, my comment wasn't about what you said, but as much as people who act like it's super easy to spot a good coach or that it's easy to replace one.

oh ok. obviously every team passed on Thibs. He turned Boston's D around and helped them win a title, and didn't get a job. Next season, they were still the best defensive team, even without KG. He got no offers. I thought it was interesting that the guy above made it sound like he was picky about where he coached. He would have taken any offer he got.

Yes.....because Thib was head coaching material the second he became an assistant.

Yeah, because what he learned between year 17 and 18 was what took him from "scrub undeserving of a job" to "Coach of the Year".

    This game is fun. :)

what's your synonym, then? I'll retract:

Yeah, b/c it was what he learned b/w year 17 and 18 that took him from "non head coaching material (sic)" to "Coach of the Year"

Thibodeau just Coach-of-the-Yeared his team to a Game One home loss to a mediocre Atlanta team.

MM, I've heard you pimp Budenholzer a couple times, but I haven't heard much of him. Not nearly like Dwayne Casey was talked about, or Thibodeau, or even Monty. What's your thought behind how good a coach he's going to be? X-and-o's? Motivator? Defense?

Hawks aren't mediocre. Pay no attention to meaningless regular season record. Hawks are for real. Came damn near close to beating 08 Celtics. This is their year.
