The Celtics already traded away a PG that couldn't shoot in Marcus Banks and then get another one? The Blazers loved this guy when they drafted him. Trading him away after two years tells me they don't see him improving much. He'll add virtually nothing to a team that needs an impact player. Randy Foye, Brandon Roy, or Marcus Williams all would've been better pickups than Talfair.</div> Exactly, thank god someone else see's this besides me. Everyone likes this deal and I don't get it.
LMAO!!! Khaos must be pissed right now. The just got another pg to back up or start for his gay lover. Anyways I do like this trade. They're getting a pg that has already shown talent in the league. Im really curious though to see who Portland will take w/ both picks.
Guys, I'm reading RealGM and the fans said on the radio and some SI source that the deal was expanded to:Ratliff/Telfair/#31forLaFrentz/Dickau/#7If that's true I would be SO HAPPY!

I know that Boston got the worse part of the deal. Telfair isn't a bad player, he's an aspiring young point guard who's had to carry a wide load early in his career already. I think that Randy Foye or Morrison/Rudy Gay would be a better part of the deal than Sebastian, overall.
BCB are you kidding me? Ratliff and Raef have about the same contract, so that's irrelevant.. but his contract does expire sooner. And Raef had a bad year in 05-06,. Ratliff will provide a veteran presence down low, defense!, and athleticism. Also guys.. on FSN they were saying that it's reported that the deal is in fact Raef/Dickau/#7 for Telfair/Ratliff/#31.. i LOVE it. We get a young playmaker and a veteran center who is a good defender and athletic.Ainge/Doc laughed and wouldn't comment on anything, but Ainge did praise Telfair and stop himself to say "oops, I wasn't supposed to say that". A deal has gone down and it's most likely the expanded deal I am telling you about.Great deal for the Celtics, I'm VERY happy with it, if it's the new one.

Ratliff is a defensive force while all Lafrentz is almost worthless. They're both way overpaid, but Theo's deal only has 2 years left while Raef's has 4. This makes the trade much better...especially if they trade Telfair for AI.
I would hardly call Theo Ratliff a defensive force...He's a 6'10" 230 pound shotblocker and nothing more.
Shotblocking is Defense. and he isnt just an average shot blocker hes a fantastic shot blocker and thats all thats needed to intimidate the smalls from taking it to the hole. which leads to more jumpers. and lower percentage shots.

His role in Portland has diminished because he's 33 years old and doesn't do anything besides block a few shots, doesn't score or rebound.
Yup the expanded deal is the deal! Yes!!! I'm pumped. The official deal is:Boston GetsSebastian TelfairTheo Ratliff2008 2nd round pickPortland GetsRaef LaFrentzDan Dickau#7 overall pickI like the deal a lot for my Celtics. Yeaaaah!

I'm just saying that Ratliff is not a defensive force and that he averaged only 23 mpg for a reason, he's a good backup center but he's aging rapidly.

Why would you trade for Telfair? Why?Besides that however, I like this trade. Theo Ratliff will be an improtant factor, mark my words. People are underrating him majory
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Telfair is and will be better than Delonte. Pretty smart thinking, in my opinion.</div>I don't understand how you can say that right now. Delonte has way more upside than Telfair does, just because Telfair is hyped and has a documentary about himself doesn't mean he's some superstar. Delonte has way more to offer offensively than Telfair does. Telfair sucks at shooting, period. He's also tiny as hell, right now, I would take Delonte over Telfair for our PG spot hands down. The only great part about this deal in my opinion was unloading useless Dan Dickau and his torn achilles tendent. And also getting rid of Raef, granted Theo Ratliff is just as overpaid as Raef is, atleast he's a center. He's in there to rebound around the hoop and block shots, Raef just stands around at the 3-point line because he can't do anything else productive.

Telfair and Ratliff is pretty good I guess so Boston wins in players, but the downside is that they lose their 7th pick, and Foye could have a great future.
