Which is why they're not worth conversing with.

It's funny. This sentence could be applied to the issue of if Obama was born in the US or if Bin Laden is really dead.

That would be my take. What did it benefit the Bush administration to say that he was dead? They lose their bad guy who was the entire reason for going into Afghanistan in the first place, and the extremists gain a martyr that they can champion for their cause. It would have been best to just let the guy die quietly and never be heard from again.

A better question is; what does Obama gain from "killing" Osama now? It's a major chip to have when he runs for re-election. If he was already dead, there's no harm because he's still dead but now Obama gets the credit for it. That's the thought.

I agree a congressional hearing willl only help Obama.

That is why I related the birthers to this . . . in the end the birthers ended up helping Obama.

I think it's crazy to think it would take US intelligence 10 years to find and kill him. My money is on him being dead a loooong time ago.

I hope the "burial at sea" was either dumping his corpse from the flying ceiling of a helicopter, off the back of a boat where he was washed through the prop or tied to a submarine that cruised down to near crush depth.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Ouch. Good thing you don't use sarcasm, snark or condescension. :)

Oh wait...that was me being snarky again. I can't stop it. :sigh:

If Bush had a chance to announce bin Laden dead, he would have jumped on it. A president who wasn't shy about announcing Iraq had WMD before he had good intelligence.

If the argument was it is bad intelligence and they got a bin Laden look alike, I get that given the US intelligence track record. But if the thought is Obama is flat out lying to the American people and doesn't believe what he is saying . . . I don't think even Bush would that.

But you often see conservatives on these forums insulting others and using sarcasm, snark, etc. Surely you're not claiming that you don't use sarcasm and snark? That would be...an interesting claim. :)

Sure, SOME Democrats are hypocrites. So are SOME Republicans. Again, members of one party being more critical of the opposing party is hardly insightful. We all know that's the case. Why didn't the Tea Party spring up when Bush was increasing the deficit. Or when Reagan was? Because they knew that years later Obama would do more? Why are conservatives on this board up in arms about lack of transparency with Obama, but weren't creating daily threads about Bush when he was President?

Okay, you're not a member of the Republican party...but how come you've never authored long posts taking Republicans to task for hypocrisy?

I believe Bush did lie. I never believed for a minute that we went into Iraq for WMDs, so Bush flat out lied to the American people and Congress, just as I think Obama could be flat out lying about Osama now.

There's so much at stake at that level. Bush already knew he had his second term, so why worry about it? This war has been HUGE business for defense contractors and major corporations like Halliburton. Seriously, go watch Food Inc... it illustrates the level of corruption in the FDA and even the Supreme Court in regards to the food industry. If the government is willing to lie to us about what we're eating, why wouldn't they lie to us about something like Osama being killed?

Sure, I use snark and sarcasm all the time, but it's usually followed by a paragraph or two of actual content. You and barfo tend to post snark and leave it at that.

I think conservatives are up in arms about transparency with Obama because he fuckin ran under the auspice of transparency of government. It was one of his biggest points. Hell, didn't he even create an office in the WH specifically tasked for transparency? You don't think that's something he should be criticized over?

I guess I haven't written long posts about the Republicans because I haven't seen that many threads about Bush or the GOP lately.... but I stand up for Gay rights when the issue comes up and I'm certainly against the Patriot Act. I'm a equal opportunity conspiracy theorist.

I don't mix them. Some posts are just snark and some are just content. I don't see why it's superior to mix them into the same posts. Not that that's bad either...I just don't see how that gives you a moral high ground. :)

Of course I do. As I said in my last post, I've criticized Obama over that very issue a couple of times recently. Those same conservatives were conspicuously silent when Bush was keeping one of the most closed, secretive administrations in history.

You didn't write them back when Bush was President either. It was only a few years ago, you know. Not pre-web or even pre-this-community. :devilwink:

    Good point!

And he probably would have tried to hog all the guns and kill Bin Laden by himself.

We weren't on this forum back when Bushy was president. I wasn't active at all in the OT forum, and I was probably not nearly as active on the Blazers side either. I didn't like BBF much.
