You don't have to be happy or proud of the US for finally catching bin Laden. But that is why I am confused. What a great day for Americans, but I understand that part of being American is the right to not be pro-US or to question the gov't in the face of their success.

I would have liked to have captured him, tied him up, displayed him at Ground Zero and the Pentagon and held a charity event where you could punch him for $10, with all proceeds going to the families of his victims.

 

Waterboarding him would probably be worse for him.

Do you honestly not understand the difference between "law enforcement" and "military"? Do you not grasp the distinction between the battlefield, and executing a prisoner in cold blood?

 

He was unarmed. From that it is relatively safe to assume that:

1. he was executed in cold blood
or
2. the navy seals failed at capturing him by killing him instead

Quite possible. The only reason to take him alive is if you believe he had high value intel - and I as I keep trying to point out to people, that is very unlikely. If you were running a terrorist network, would you share operational secrets with the PR department?

yeah ep would have captured him, would have been great, we could have had a trial, and maybe convicted him, at which point it would have been appealed, etc.
