I don't see why the photo should be classified "top secret" or require some security clearance to see. What's to lose by releasing it?
I'm OK with the govt. having secrets, but it seems like there should be a real compelling govt. interest in having such secrets.
How is this a secret, they held a press conference saying OBL is dead. If you felt left in the dark you can now breath easy. The guy is dead.
The picture is being kept secret. We have this concept of FOIA to require govt. to release documents like the photo. It's not like some undercover secret agent is going to have his cover blown (example of compelling govt. interest) if the photo is released.
Hey, McCain won the last election. Really. They counted the votes, but they're not going to say what the vote was, just that McCain won. Why should anyone question it or want to see the documentation?
Rather Nixonian. There are secret tape recordings, but we get to see a redacted set of transcripts that he made. At least he tried to pull that off.

I'm not criticizing him for posing for the photos. But the "Bush did it too" thing is REALLY old, and not much of a case for it.
It's a "It's inconsequential and every President does it" thing. I don't think "we" cared about photo ops when he pledged transparency. Because, you know, they don't matter.
