yay. Portland once again prepared another team for further playoff success.

maybe Nate IS a good playoff coach...just not for the team he's coaching, but the team he's coaching against.

Someone really should bump those Pau Gasol threads (over on Lakersground) from last year when they were all riding his jock.

Jordan was simply more talented than Kobe, pretty much all-around. It has little to do with "clutch." Kobe has played fine in big games.

Hey wasn't it you that wanted only one thread for the Lakers? I'm all giddy so I guess it doesn't matter.

Funny man... When the first round started; I said that the winner of this series could go all the way to the finals. It just maybe true.

    Re: Jordan > Kobe

I thought this was put to bed when Kobe quit on the Lakers in the fourth quarter of a playoff elimination game several years back.

Speed what is it with you and hyperbole every time someone loses?

Chill out dude, get a grip. Kobe's not Jordan but Jordan wasn't great in the late 80's against Detroit, nor in his second title run. Or his last three Finals.

    Really????

In 13 seasons in the playoffs Michael Jordan only had a PER below 25.0 twice - 24.7 as a rookie (and actually led all players in PER that post season) and 24.8 the year he came back near the end of the regular season after playing minor league baseball.

In 14 seasons in the playoffs, Kobe Bryant has only had a PER above 25.0 once - 26.8 in 2009.

Michael Jordan's career post season PER is 28.6. He topped PER = 30.0 four times (career high 32.0)

Kobe Bryant's career post season PER is 22.4. As I mentioned, his career best is 26.8.

Kobe at his post season best is well below Jordan's post season average. Kobe at his best is not even close to Jordan at his best.

Jordan's PERs during his last three post seasons (second 3-peat), at the ages of 32, 33 and 34 were 26.7, 27.1 and 28.1. Kobe's best three year run was 25.0, 26.8 and 24.7 at 29, 30 and 31. So Kobe at his peak was well below an older, past his prime Jordan (who was still the best player in the game at the age of 34.)

Jordan was better, and it really isn't close enough for a reasonable debate.

Here's a link to the top 100 post season PERs with at least 300 minutes played.

    Kobe doesn't crack the top 50 once (his best is 55th). Jordan's name appears in the top 50 eight times (4, 6, 13, 14, 26, 30, 45 and 48).

SlyPokerDog needs to shut up already, he really likes to type pointless stuff. My problem is insignificant compared to his. :)

You typed up this nonsense post to a problem I didn't pose.

Nope, just enjoying the Lakers meltdown. About the only thing better than seeing the Blazers eliminate them would be seeing them swept by Dallas.

Since you're supposed to be a mod, how about addressing the post instead of the poster? Seems like SlyPokerDog might be the one "having some issues today".
