The feeling right now is that the Undertaker has retired from regular competition and will only wrestle a few times a year as a special attraction. He is not expected to work again until next year’s Wrestlemania. That being said he may end up retiring for good next year. Source: TheWrestlingTruth
It's obvious to what's going to happen. He's going to win at Mania' and retired at 20-0, which I think will be a Career vs. Streak match. But I also find it weird because in that case, Triple H will have to retire too at the same time... So to who gets the tribute? Both of them?
I think this was pretty expected. He's getting up there in age (he's what, 46, something like that), and his body has taken an absolute beating over his 20some years in the business. He's also had a lot of injury problems recently, and I'm not sure about the last time he was actually healthy. I'm fully expecting him to completely retire from competition after next years WrestleMania, when he likely ends with a 20-0 record at the event.
The WWE is in an era where they gotta start making some new stars. With the Undertaker basically being done, HHH not doing anything since Wrestlmania and with Edge retiring young(ish), there isn't a whole lot of "stars" that are there. I know you could point out Orton, Cena and maybe the Miz, but imho, it's mostly Orton and Cena who have been built up (aka, crammed down our throats as legit stars). Del Rio is capable, but not a lot else is out there.
I think they're cramming The Miz down our throats a lot as of recent, actually. I mean...I don't mind him, and I think he's a great heel, but to say that only Cena and Orton are being shoved down our throats is a bit naive in my book. I do think they need to build some more of their younger talent up though. I think they're doing a decent job with Morrison, but they've yet to give him that complete main event push that I think he should be getting. That being said, I do think they need to build up some of their other young guys (Kofi, Bryan, etc.).
Well, I meant in the sense that Orton and Cena are the stars, and they were trying to make Miz one. I guess you could say that they were shoving him down our throats, but did anyone really take him seriously? If they wanted to make him seem legit, he should've never had Alex Riley with him. There was a 3 week stretch where they "pushed" the Miz decently, and you could argue he was taken seriously. The rest of the time though, it was John Cena hulking up and being super human. Miz's interactions with the Rock screams of desperation to get noticed.
See, this is where I disagree with you. If they didn't want to push him as a star, they wouldn't have had him hold the title for nearly 6 months. I realize he looked like a beatable champ for a good majority of that reign, but it was still a lengthy run, and I think they did a really good job of building him up as arguably the top heel in the company, and it seems like he'll probably end up competing for the title for quite some time.
