Howard would still have to agree to a contract extension with a trade partner, though. It's not like the team that gets Howard automatically gets to claim him for his next contract. If Howard wants to go to the Lakers, and if Orlando wants something of value, then the Lakers do have a couple of very good trade assets. Hence, Chris Mullin, IMO, made a valid point.
I agree. I think the Lakers can make a perfectly legitimate offer for Dwight Howard, once Orlando is looking at trading the last few months of his contract. People often forget or neglect to take contract status into player trade value. Howard is massively more valuable than Bynum, but three months of Howard is not necessarily more valuable than several years of Bynum.
First off, I like how you included 4 years for PERS, but the last 3 for %'s. he played 30 games in the 1st year, 50 in the 2nd and 54 in the third. And even though I know this will inevitably bring Oden bashers out, that means he's missed 52, 32 and 28 games in those three years. AND more to my point, he's averaged 12, 14, 15 and 11 points per game in those years. If you do the 3 seasons (30, 50 and 54 games played), he averaged just over 55% of the games played. And if you include the 4 seasons, his % is actually 60. If you could the last 3 seasons, his % is 69. So I'm not sure what your basing your #'s off of.
chris- that post was cathartic. Best thing I've ever read on this forum. It summed up exactly how I feel. This is a new day, indeed. I would rep you ten times if I could.
A big question mark for a sure thing. Bynum was a #3 or #4 option who never had a defense focus on him. It sounds supiciously like Kwame for Gasol, Part Deux.
Yes there is a lot of bad blood with the Shaq fiasco. I doubt they would do anything unless they have to with L.A.
This actually cheered me up...thanks for reminding how awesome my team is and how pathetic you are as a fan
Really? Jackson's Flaker teams have always been willing to pull cheap shit. He always has a goon pushing buttons when he thinks it will give his team an edge. Rick Fox. Lamar Odom. This is not unexpected.
After reflection, you are correct. He's not above letting his teams play bitch-ball. Although I believe in this particular case, he was not giving Odom and Bynum instructions to do this. Odom and Bynum (especially Bynum) are chickenshit cheapshot artists that should be banned from the game.
Sadly, I agree with this Your team is fragile and classless under any kind of real pressure. Congratulations on the clean sweep in the second round. Another blowout elimination game to add to Kobe's career. He's got 5 of them now. Yes, he has 5 rings but only because others stepped up while he was sucking (see last year's game 7). The Mavericks officially own Kobe (4-0 all time in the playoffs) until proven otherwise. Hilarious. And you thought the Lakers would win this series after they choked away the first two at home. Hahahahahaha!
If DaRizz is still proud of his team after what Andrew Bynum did, that speaks volumes about him as a fan.
I called for ten games last time, so I would want 30 this time and if I was the recipient of one of those I think I would file a civil assault case against him.
I think his value in the league just fell by the wayside. Good. I want the Lakers to feel a complete implosion. I would be pissed if somehow the Lakers got Howard for a shitty player like Bynum. Let's just hope this incident and those comments he made publicly will lower his value enough for the Lakers to have 0 chance of getting Howard.
