Let me start off by saying that barring a trade, I don't see us using the MLE, because of Oden's extension and the glut we have on the wings. However, I do expect us to make some trades to sort out the roster. So with that said, who do you guys think is a realistic target for our MLE? Of course there might not even be an MLE, so let's just work under the assumption that there is.

    List of free agents:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=FreeAgents-11-12

Potential names I think we could nab for the MLE, or part of the MLE:
    Glen Davis
    Joel Przybilla
    Arron Afflalo (unlikely)
    J.R. Smith
    Tayshaun Prince
    T.J. Ford
    Shane Battier
    Michael Redd
    Kris Humphries (unlikely)
    Carl Landry
    Aaron Brooks
    Grant Hill (unlikely)
    Samuel Dalembert

Basically looking for bigs or knockdown shooters. Of those, Prince, Dalembert, and Landry interest me the most as someone we could possibly get. I think Cho is trying to get younger and more athletic, but there aren't many young promising FA's that I think we could get for the MLE.

If we are going to, I would choose in this order:

    1.) Landry
    2.) Brooks
    3.) Pryzbilla

Don't like or think the rest of the list would be obtainable or want. Highly unlikely is: Prince, Smith, Redd, Battier will all get more than MLE.

I doubt it. Older vets on the downside usually sign for just about the MLE. Redd especially isn't getting more than $3 million a year I would think. Coming off major injuries and not playing very well. I like him as a spot up shooter though.

Fuck if you could get Redd for 3 mil, then get er done. I don't care if he had a bad season this year. The guy has one of the quickest releases in the game. He could be our perimeter dagger if Aldridge gets doubled.

Well, he's played less than Oden the last three years. That should tell you something....

He'd be great, but I think Cuban will hold on to him, especially after his playoff play...

3 mil per season is worth that risk. LOL Fuck we have 4 bench players that hardly see a minute of the floor that would add up more than 3 mil.

Redd would've been huge for us in the playoffs, if we had hit some 3's it could have been a series.

I like trying to get Brooks, hell last offseason I would've traded Batum for him. He had a bad year but maybe he puts that behind him. A quick 3 point shooting PG is exactly what our team needs, especially with Gerald as our second best player, having him and the poor shooting Miller hurts our court spacing.

But I expect the MLE to mostly be eliminated and I can't say I'll be that mad. Its stupid when caped out teams like the Lakers can add a solid free agent every offseason.

Yeah it sucks, unless we can use it! LOL We had some great MLE signings in our day. Still loved the Augman deal. He was one of my favorite bench players in the late 90's and early 2000's

I wouldn't say that. Lot's of teams end up misusing the MLE...

Off the top of my head...Blake last year for the Lakers, Diop a few years ago for Dallas, Brian freakin' Cardinal got one a few years back...

Shanon Brown isn't a great shooter, but he wouldn't be a bad fit either.

I know money isn't a big issue for Cuban, but they'll be over the cap and will want to resign Chandler, Butler, and Peja as well.

We need a rebounder even more than we need a shooter.

You have a better rebounder in mind? He got many rebounds last season even at a third his normal self. He won't cost the full MLE.

We get him and Cho can take the summer off in Hawaii.

I'd offer him the vet minimum. Personally I'd go after Aaron Brooks or Carl Landry.

Kris Humphries and Samuel Dalembert are good rebounders. Get a rebounder, a shooter, buy a higher draft pick, and I let Cho run off for the summer.
