LOL, fair enough. Actually I remember me and my friends would guess the plays. We had a pet name for the one you just mentioned. We called it "DTTB!" Dribble till they are board!

I can't play this at work. Care to give a brief synopsis? (hopefully the gist is "we're looking for good basketball players").

Spoke about how there are so few stars in this draft, and was really surprised to see Jones going back to UK. Also spoke about how there are a ton of guys this year who could potentially have gone top 5 but chose to go back to school because of (paraphrasing) uncertainty in the league.

Said the thing they're looking most to add is size and speed. No positions mentioned.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

What on earth were you listening to? He specifically stated that he could NOT discuss any player specifically that went back to school, so he most definitely DID NOT mention Jones going back to UK, all he said was there were a few players who looked like top 5 picks that made surprising moves to go back (aka Perry Jones and Harrison Barnes).

Additionally, he talked for several minutes about the PG position and how they'll definitely be looking at bringing in a pg with our pick.

Other tidbits of interest: said in the past they've brought WAY too many players in to work out, but that's created too much busy work. Will pare down that number this year and likely only bring in around 20-30, instead of wasting their time with a lot of marginal talent (seems to me to be setting up a smokescreen, but who knows...). Could be more "too much reading into things" but he also used the specific term "with our pick" several times this year - didn't sound as if they were planning on being too aggressive to move up in the draft, but again, that could be much ado about nothing...

I hope POR is taking a long look at Charles Jenkins from Hofstra. Kind of an under the radar kid who has put up some very good numbers, but what really stands out to me is the following:

    http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Charles-Jenkins-6189/

Three KEY areas of need for POR, the ability to create 1v1 when the offense stagnates in the halfcourt, the ability to execute the pick and roll with guys like Aldridge & (hopefully) Oden and the ability to hit the outside shot (and hit that 10-15ft 2pt jumper) and make defenses pay when they try to clog the lane.

The first 10mins or so while working. I thought I heard Jones' name specifically.

Heh. There go my listening comprehension skills.

    Thx for the full recap.

No worries. Jones WAS mentioned, but it was by Rice, and CBuch gave the answer that you implied he did, just not specifically about Jones in particular.

Listening to Chad Ford today Brandon Knight sounds like the absolute perfect guard for this team. A deadly shooter with a killer instinct. Would have to trade into the top-5. Could be a safer pick than Irving.

He also said Selby would be a high riser in this draft. He's been killing it so far in workouts.

A lot. He just reminds me of Bayless. Doesn't really have point guard skills or instincts.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

Selby strikes me as exceedingly immature. He CLEARLY had issues keeping in good graces at Kansas.

Not saying that I'm opposed to having a knucklehead or two on the team, but I don't know about banking on a kid like that in this draft.

I've been high on Brandon Knight for a long time. Kid is extremely smart and a notoriously hard worker and established leader - as a true freshman. He'll be tough to get ahold of though.

I still think there's an opportunity with Detroit that high up in the lotto. They need to dump their unhappy vets more than they need to get a young piece.

    I wouldn't mind Cory Joseph.

Not a great freshman year at Texas but was pretty highly regarded coming out of high school. Was known as somewhat of a ball dominant, scoring PG but showed he could play off the ball. Shot 40+ percent from 3 and had a solid ast : to ratio of 2.

Good size at 6' 3" too although he could stand to bulk up a bit more.
