Just had to check in with you guys . . . I'm on the last day of a 10-day trip down the coast of Croatia, which is incredibly beautiful. Right now I'm in the city of Dubrovnik, which is essentially an ancient fortress on the Adriatic. If you've never been here, you must put it in your plans. It's not to be missed. But about those NBA playoffs . . . If there's anything almost as sweet as seeing the Blazers win a playoff series, it's seeing the Lakers lose one. And to see them get swept by Dallas, the team that we beat TWICE, is almost too good to be true. Just call me Happy in Croatia!
Have a great time, dude! Yes, watching the L*kers lose.....and the way they lost, was a thing of beauty.
My parents are looking to do that tour in the next year or two. I checked it out and scoped out how it would be to get to Zagreb...I have to see that museum and get some gear. get some nice pics, and throw up the blazers jersey for "where in the world"!
We did Croatia and Italy on our honeymoon many moons ago. If it's anything like it was 9 years ago, I'd skip the interior of Croatia unless you have a fetish for Soviet Era architecture. Plitvitzca is a beautiful national park, but not really worth the utterly terrifying drive. I loved Split and Hvar. The women of Split are bar-none the most fucking beautiful I've ever seen. If you get a chance, Shooter, go to Hvar and rent a scooter there. You can cover the whole island in an afternoon and see just one fantastic vista after another. Croatia is the only place I've ever been where I wasn't immediately identified as American or Canadian. They just assumed if you are tall and blonde and blue-eyed, you must be from Germany. It was very disorienting. Next time I go back to Europe I'm making special trips to the Cinque Terra in Italy and Hvar in Croatia. I definitely envy you!
Hvar was actually my first stop on the trip. I spent two nights there and loved every minute of it. Here's my favorite picture from Hvar:
The Adriatic is just stunning and you're visiting some its nicest spots. I'm glad the weather is cooperating. Have a great trip!
I'm actually home now, but the weather was great every day with the exception of one, and lodging was plentiful. We were able to negotiate a lower rate at every place we stayed, since there are so few tourists in May.
How strong is the dollar over there? Everything seem cheaper to you than in america? I love places where the dollar is strong and you get more value for you buck.
Like how much is a beer? How much is a sit down meal at a decent sit down restaurant with table service?
