I'm not a good one to ask, since I don't drink or eat meat. I can't tell you the price of what most people consider a "great meal" in Croatia, but I can tell you that I was able to get a good meal for around $15. The best bargain in Croatia is the lodging. In Hvar, I got a 4-bed apartment with a kitchenette for $26 a night. In Dubrovnik, which is more expensive, I paid $40.00 a night for a nice room with a kitchenette. Rooms and apartments are available everywhere you go. It seems like every Croatian house has a room to rent.
All over Croatia you see signs that say "Sobe" (room) or "apartment." It's unbelievable because there are millions of these signs everywhere you go. You just knock on a door, go see the room, and offer them a price. Most of the time they accept it. The economy is bad in Croatia, and people need the money. I didn't go by cruise; I flew into Split and flew out of Dubrovnik.
