Oregon State junior defensive tackle Castro Masaniai has been suspended indefinitely in the wake of his Saturday arrest in Corvallis. Masaniai (6-2, 341, Waipahu, Hawaii) was booked in Benton County jail on charges of second-degree kidnapping, coercion, disorderly conduct, harassment, and criminal mischief. Masaniai, a potential starter on OSU's defensive line, missed spring football while he re-habbed a shoulder injury but he was considered a candidate to start in the fall and at the very least be in the regular rotation. OSU coach Mike Riley was out of town and not immediately available for comment. http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2011/05/oregon_state_football_defensiv.html
I see no charge involving hurting someone. Kidnapping has lost 2 elements, 1) ransom and 2) moving someone. 1) Years ago, they started charging a boyfriend with kidnapping for making his estranged girlfriend get into the car so they could go someplace and argue. 2) A couple of years ago, I started seeing the kidnapping charge for blocking the door during an argument and not letting someone out. When the public sees the kidnapping charge, they think Lindbergh baby--ransom, rich person, and certainly moving the person to somewhere else against their will. The legal system expands its power without limit because it infiltrates any group which forms to fight it. Speaking of McDonald's bathrooms, a year ago a short pudgy old female employee came in with a mop while I was standing at a urinal and had a little smile, intending to watch me. She stood about 10 feet away for about 5 seconds and I nervously zipped up fast and left.
Update: A spokesman from the Corvallis police department said the incident occurred at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday at a downtown McDonalds restaurant. Police responded to a possible "assault in progress.'' ... the second-degree kidnapping charges stemmed from Masaniai's apparent attempt to pull his girlfriend out of the restaurant. Masaniai was taken to jail, said the spokesman, after police took statements from the victim, from witnesses, and from Masaniai. Arraignment is expected to be sometime Monday morning. No court date has been set.
Remember those times when you complain about Beaver fans who come and do this exact same thing in Duck fans and say they have little brother syndrome?
sorry must have needed green font. The point I was trying to get across is how stupid it is that one tries to make the school look like more of a Thug university. Just like what was happening a couple weeks ago with the Kiko Alonso fiasco. Both schools are full of just that.. College Students.. who will make stupid stupid mistakes. But yeah IIRC when I talk about the little brother syndrome is in threads where its mentioned about Darron Thomas being the future and someone posts a pic of Ryan Kats saying "We got a good one too! Look at me look at me!"
Duck football players lose their college careers over Mac books while Beaver players lose their careers over Big Macs. We're obviously a lot more classy of a program.
I'll be the first to admit that I spent a ton of time at Oregon drunk as a skunk doing really silly things, but it is beyond me how all these student athletes keep getting in trouble. My only experience with the cops was "Hey, can you not piss on that building, sir? Have a nice night". Granted I never tried to rob a frat house or drive drunk or anything bad, but seriously; Is it that god damned hard to stay away from trouble?
