Andy Dirks will have to wait to make his major league debut.

The Detroit outfielder was supposed to start in left field Sunday, but the Tigers' game against the Kansas City Royals was called because of rain. The 25-year-old Dirks, called up after Magglio Ordonez went on the disabled list Friday, took the postponement in stride.

"That's part of the game," Dirks said. "That's the way it goes sometimes. I'm not worried about it."

The teams have a makeup game scheduled for Sept. 1 at 1:05 p.m. That was supposed to be an off day for both teams after playing three games against each other Aug. 29-31 in Detroit.
