Yes, I do need you to elaborate. How do you get rid of these two yet improve the team?

Freeing up dollars (Roy and Oden) can get us healthy players; healthy players over injured players improves any team.

Roy will never be the same - and now hurts the team when he is on the floor (with the exception of one playoff game...and ONLY because HE made every shot) and Oden simply doesn't and probably will never play.

I think this speaks for itself.

Yes, I'd rather have a team of rookies (healthy) or wiley old veterans (healthy) than to go through another 2010-1011 Roy-Oden season!

    Just my opinion

I know you aren't a hater, but the two games we won against Dallas, Roy had a great game. All the games we lost; Roy was basically a "non-factor" in the game.

That's not bad from a bench player, though. The real blame lies on the PG, IMO, who dominated the ball at times, and put up a terrible WS compared to his usage rate.

Roy put up a 16.5 PER off of the bench, which is perfectly acceptable for a role player.

    So ... I think you're a hater.

That's not being a hater, that's being ridiculous. What do you think you will win with "bodies". I agree with Papa G, PG is still the key. And cap space is not going to get you Deron Williams or Chris Paul. 25 teams need a better PG. We are not alone. But all this fucking BRoy talk is absurd. You guys think if we shed some salary we will get better? When has that happened? Once or twice in 4 decades?

I am not saying Oden and Roy should never be traded, I am just saying dumping their contracts for nothing is insane. We do need another star besides LMA to win anything. But dumping those two will not get you that star. So stop fixating on their salaries until it is an issue. We are not players in free agency. We never have been. If you really care about Paul Allen's money than worry what will happen if we got rid of Roy and Oden for more worthless rookies or old vets that are long past their prime.

I was thinking the same thing. It may be irrelevant, but we would have been swept in the first round with no Roy. Relieving his contract doesnt put us under the cap with any hope of being a free agent player. The Paul Allen advantage is allowing us to overpay/absorb toxic contracts; not much more. I'm as realistic as anyone about his condition, but I think it's a good risk seeing how he plays out at least one more season. Same with overpaying to retain Oden.

Actually no. But many seem to label people a "hater" if they are quick to point out problems with certain players. So that is why I explained I knew he wasn't. But FYI, we only won when he was a factor and lost miserably when he wasn't. That's a fact.

100% agree with this. What I think we've learned (Zach) is let's be patient and not cash in just yet. Who knows how Roy will adapt to his new condition. If he will never contribute, then make that decision. It would really suck if we released him, have no benefit in cap, only to see him doing great on another team.

true, though it could easily be argued that since his D is now always horrible while his offense is only sometimes a bonus, that only when his shot is on is he not a drag on the team's chances of winning. If you include his defense, he was definitely a factor in the losses too

Well as long as you factor in that without Roy, we would have been swept than i guess we can agree.

PA will have to eat much of Roy's salary to rid us of him, and needs to do so.

guess we aren't going to agree then. Oh well. In the losses he averaged 4 points on 33% shooting. In those 4 losses he worked his way to the line a grand total of 5 times (making 1). He also messed around and averaged 2 assists and 2 boards in his 22+ MPG... I doubt anyone would have done worse.

Again thats on top being the club's worst defender every game. I tend to think that factored. But then you seem to root for a player while I root for the team.

I like how you think. Obviously you have no idea what I actually believe. Unlike some, I actually have proven loyalty to the entire team. Obviously you don't, but that's all good. So when Roy's gone, will you work your way to Oden? Maybe Aldridge. I mean who are you going to complain about next? Without Roy, we get swept. Pure and simple. You believe what you want.

I root for whats in the best interest of my fav team winning championship(s), not a single broken player saving face. When (not if) LA is no longer a positive towards achieving this goal, I hope to be able recognize the harsh truth and not hang on to days gone bye-bye. I don't hate BR any more then I hate Kelvin Ramsey or Calvin Natt... just recognizing what is
sorry to be the guy throwing the cold pale of water, but thats your opinion not the truth. We don't know what Patty Rudy Nic Gerald and Wesley might have done with the extra opportunities that Brandon shit the bed on, only that BR shit the bed with those opportunities. It must be nice to be so oblivious.

The results for the new reality of Brandon are pretty established. He can't play at a high level on a regular basis. Not much but prayer gives us hope of things changing with his physical state. Dude's knees are shot barring a medical leap. Harsh reality of injury has struck down umpteen quality players before him... it's not like the medical community is just now putting their collective eggheads towards regenerating cartilage or developing something that could suffice in it's place. Reality is that Roy has a condition that won't be improving unless this miracle breakthrough happens... I'm for developing another plan then hoping for a miracle as it probably doesn't happen tomorrow for the same reasons it didn't happen yesterday

Everything about this post is purely your opinion. Cause those two games BRoy played well, the rest of the team wasn't. Those two wins were because Roy had a stellar game. You can spin it all you want. But you said you want your team to win. They did and it was because of Roy, pure and simple. So give me all your "PER" and statistical gargabe. Portland would have been swept by Dallas without Roy having those great games. I think we're done here. You won't give two shits if Roy scored 500 points and won. You still will toss your hate. For me, I'm glad this team has Roy and his heart. I'm glad the entire team supports Roy and Roy. I will be even more glad when Roy actually proves you wrong once again.

I seem to remember you making a call out that Roy will never have a game like he did in game 4. You were wrong then, and you are wrong now. NEXT...

We can't trade Roy in a deal that will make any kind of sense for the Blazers. We will have to "pay" through the nose for another team to eat his contract. Not worth it imo.

Additionally, the idea of attempting to dump Roy, so we can have his salary slot as cap space is misguided. The team won't have cap if only Roy is off the books. Several other useful players will also have to be dumped or allowed to walk for nothing. The process of attempting to create cap space would gut the roster of what little depth it has and send the team straight to the lottery.

The only smart move for the Blazers for the next year or two in regards to Roy - Amnesty. An amnesty provision is likely in the next CBA. Depending on the details, this is probably the only and best way for the Blazers to help themselves with roster salary flexibility.
