UNLV junior Chace Stanback, who led the team in points and rebounds this season, was arrested near campus early Friday for allegedly driving under the influence.

Stanback, 21, was taken into custody shortly after 2 a.m. on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, speeding, and having no proof of insurance, Las Vegas police spokesman Jay Rivera said Monday. He has been released and scheduled for an Aug. 11 court date.

"We are aware there was an incident and are in the process of gathering more information," UNLV coach Dave Rice, who was hired last month to replace Lon Kruger, said in a statement.

The 6-foot-8 Stanback averaged 13 points and 5.9 rebounds, ranking third in the Mountain West Conference in field goal percentage (.478). He started in all 33 games on a Rebels team that was 24-9 and went to the NCAA tournament, earning All-Mountain West Conference third team honors in his two years with the team since transferring from UCLA.
