That wasn't a cheap shot in any way, shape or form and I honestly think it is ridiculous to think so. That's not how you block a shot? Then why was e less than an inch from actually blocking it? This is how you block a shot. Batum actually went for the ball, Ariza merely swiped at the ball and didn't care who or what he hit in the process.

Sergio was shown the door following Rudy's rookie season. While that was the same year that the Ariza incident happened, his leaving didn't require back surgery. I'd guess injury as he's seemed to be much less explosive since. In addition, like a lot of players he's seems to get his rhythm with the ball in his hands. Being less of an athlete then he was hasn't really given Nate much reason to put the ball in his hands more... so he's stuck in the corner off the ball. A perfect storm
