http://www.nba.com/celtics/news/press06300...ne-waivers.html BOSTON ? The Boston Celtics announced today that the club has requested waivers on guard Orien Greene. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Greene was selected by the Celtics in the second round (53rd overall) in the 2005 NBA Draft. He appeared in 80 games (five starts) for the Celtics last season, averaging 3.2 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.6 apg in 15.4 mpg. Greene scored a career-high 14 points on April 17 vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers, matching the mark two days later in the season finale vs. the Miami Heat.</div> Not really a suprise. No need to keep him as a 4th PG behind Delonte, Bassy, and Rondo.
Yeah, Greene was the odd man out. He's an interesting player though, I'm sure he'll be able to land a deal with someone else. Hopefully we can take a look at him and give him a shot. I wouldn't mind him, we could use a cheap backup PG like Greene.
Yeah, he's more than likely to be a part of a summer league roster and he will intrigue teams with his size and court vision. I wish him luck, but he's not needed here.
I had him as a sleeper coming out of the draft, he will find a nitch with some team though, the Celtics have so much point guard depth right now that they don't need him.
He could be a decent garbage player some day, but i knew this wouldn't work out. But i think now especially that TA is back in full swing that we don't really need Greene's services.
Damn that sucks for Orien. He had some really nice all around games for us. He was a very nice defensive presence to have out with the bench but offensively he was real questionable. He's a really nice athlete I think he will find a nitch somewhere in this league. Like you guys said, really no reason to keep him around.

He had some excellent games, but you can't question that Rondo is a major upgrade over him. But I don't question his future either, his size/defense/vision will get him on another roster. I think he could fit well with a few teams in the league, some off the top of my head: Toronto, Milwaukee, Philly, Cleveland.
