The under 18 tournament for all of the countries and the U.S. is taking place right now in my home city. San Antonio, well i live like 15 minutes away. Im pretty sure that i am going to see some of thier games....im pretty excited about it and just thought i would let you guys know
I just went to the game yesterday and the U.S.A team has alot of talent. They dont have much competition though. This thing has been up for about 5 years now and the United States biggest competition is Argentina. They are playing later today for the championship. The US played Canada yesterday and walked all over them by 30. The United States team involves...6'0 PG Johnny Flynn/Syracuse/Niagara Falls H.S. in New York6'4 G Jerryd Bayless/undecided/St. Mary's H.S. in Phoenix, AZ6'4 G Nolan Smith/Duke/Oak Hill Academy in Virginia6'7 F Taylor King/Duke/Marter Del H.S. in Hunnington Beach, CA6'9 F Kyle Singler/undecided/Medford, OR6'9 F Stanley Robinson/Connecticut/Huffman H.S. in Birmingham,AL6'8 F Lance Thomas/Duke/St. Benedicts H.S. in Scoth Plains. I've heard of Bayless. Some guy from one of my classes told me that he threw down a windmill dunk in a game that he saw.
I personally think the best player out of the 3 right now is Singler. He has the complete package. He is 6 9 and he can shoot the 3 ball and he also can play good defense. He had several blocks on Canada's 7 foot center. The guy with the most potential is Beasley. He is long, a great rebounder/shot blocker, can shoot from the outside, and can flat out jump.
Dayum! It sucks that they all pussied out and joined prep schools, that's why high school basketball is never balanced and theres no underdogs.
