    Lots of fatties in this year's draft. Shit man, you'd think college guys looking for a big NBA paycheck would try to get in decent shape before the combine. Seriously, Reggie Johnson, 6'8.5" (barefoot), 307 lb. and 22.4% body fat. That's ridiculous. There are several others in the 13 - 15% body fat range, and SGs in the 240 lb. range and PGs in the 225 range.

    I find it interesting, if not all that surprising, that Jeremy Tyler came in questionable shape. He really is clueless.

    Kyrie Irving is taller than listed. Impressive.

    Too bad his wingspan is tiny. He really does remind you of Chris Paul (physically).

    lol @ some of these guys having 2 inches with shoes. That's ridiculous. I don't think i've ever worn shoes that big (aside from cleats).

    They should never list a player 2" taller than their actual height.

    For example:

    Cole Aldrich:

    6'9" w/o shoes || 6'11.25" w/shoes

    It's fucking ridiculous.

    The measurement with shoes is really the only one that matters. Unless there is a lift in a guy's shoes, it's more accurate than the Zola Budd measurement.

    Most tennis shoes add about 1.25" - 1.5" in height. I prefer not to play in anything taller than that as I think it increases the risk of rolling an ankle.

    I think they should just pick a standard, say 1.5" for shoe height and add it to everyone's without shoe height. Otherwise, players could show up for the predraft measurements wearing some ridiculous shoes they would never wear in a game and other players are penalized because they show up that day wearing more realistic shoes. It doesn't make sense to me to reward or penalize a player based on the shoes they are wearing that day. What happens when they get a new shoe deal and change brands? Does their playing height get updated? No. So, why not make it fair and just add 1.5" to everyone's w/o shoe height and call that their playing height?

    The only shoes I have that add 2" to my height are my boots, and I don't wear them for basketball.

    I'm 6' 3.25"" barefoot and 6' 4.5" to 6' 4.75" in tennis shoes. So, I just split the difference and tell people I'm 6'4".

    Anybody know how they measure hand length (I assume it's from the line at the base of the hand to the tip of the middle finger) and width (I assume it's thumb tip to pinky tip)? No matter how they measure it, Gregory Smith (hand length = 9.75", hand width = 12") and Kawhi Leonard (hand length = 9.75" and hand width = 11.25") have huge mitts.

    If my assumptions about the measurements are correct, my hand width is only 8.5" (about average for someone my height), but my hand width is 10" (about average for someone 5" taller than me). Which makes sense. I could palm a basketball in 6th grade. If you ever get the chance, check out the hand prints of some of the former Blazers at the RG. Sheed has very small hands (much smaller than mine) for someone 6'11". Sabonis has ENORMOUS hands. A basketball looks like a grapefruit in his hand. It's easy to see why if you compare your hand to his hand print.

    and Kevin Durant measured 6'9 barefoot at his predraft and is listed 6'9 in his league listing

    do they list Hockey players height with their skates on? Football and baseball players with their cleats on? Of course not. Every other walk of life (except maybe pro wrestling) lists a person's barefoot height as their height. If soneone asks me how tall I am, I answer my barefoot height... of course. Whats with the facade in pro hoops?

    Sometimes these numbers are totally useless if you don't have the talent.

    2006 Portsmouth Invitational: J.J. Barea: 5'10.75" || 5'10" wingspan

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dennis Rodman: 6'7.25"

    Ben Wallace: 6'7"

    [IMG]

    Jason Jennings: 7'0.5" || 7'7" wingspan

    Etc. etc.

    Not the size of the boat, but the motion in the ocean? Or so PapaG has been telling himself for all these many years.

    Thanks Captain Obvious. No one has claimed that measurables are everything. It's only a part talent evaluation, which is why the league does it at their predrafts and many hoops fans reference those measurements.

    opinion of how player's skills project is another part of talent evaluation
