http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/or...f/2011/05/canzano_blazers_gm_rich_cho_ta.html This is from the same Canzano article I posted but since Canzano is making such a huge deal about it I thought it deserved its own thread. Frankly I don't see it as being as big of a story as Canzano is trying to make it. Roy shouldn't have gone to the press but he has in the past and you have to figure he will in the future. So what if Cho considered suspending Roy. I'm sure he considered all options available to him as a GM. Canzano is trying to make this into far too big of a deal then it really is.
It is really stupid how big he is trying to make this. What Roy said is a perfect reason to suspend a player. It is up to management to decide if it is worth suspending him for. Part of management wanted to suspend him part of management didn't. Case closed big whoop.
I frankly don't think the "felt like crying" part of what Roy told the media was worthy of anything. But when he said he couldn't believe the players Nate was putting in ahead of him - and called them out by name (Rudy & Patty if I'm not mistaken) - that was really bad on two fronts: 1.) he undercut his teammates, and 2.) he more forcefully questioned his coach. If Cho seriously considered suspending Roy, I bet it was for those specific comments, not the part Canzano chose to highlight.
Not that I don't believe you, but do you have a direct quote? I don't recall things being that personal in Roy's rant, but I could be wrong.
“Then I start the second and Bam! I'm right back on the bench again. I mean, I don't know what I could have done! Then I sit, and he puts Patty and Rudy in before me. I know physically I have to play, but mentally, how do I just go …'' http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2011/04/trail_blazers_guard_brandon_ro_1.html
