I don't get it. My best guess is that him admitting he was overruled on chastising Roy was the reason. In which case Paul Allen really does look like an idiot. Or a megalomaniac. Or both.
I know papag is hot on the Blazers for not extending Oden when they had the chance. Maybe PA is feeling the same way???
Should have hired Jerry West before Golden State did. And hired Phil Jax to coach. And trade for Kobe, maybe.
It's not that he is or isn't a good GM, it's that he only got 1/2 a year to prove himself. Just odd. Hopefully Buchanan is offered, or they already have someone in mind that is a proven GM that they know will take the job. My guess is that the front office thinks more highly of this team than he did though. That sucks. More 1st round exits
Maybe, or maybe this is an indication that they do know what they're doing, realized that Cho was a mistake, and have taken a step to fix an error. I think we have to wait and see who is brought in as GM before assessing whether this is a good or bad move. I will say that since Day 1, Cho has struck me as the guy you want in the back room crunching stats and reading the CBA, not the guy who actually has to be out front making the deals.
@ChrisMannixSI: Blazers never, ever gave Rich Cho a real chance to run the team. Rival execs always believed Miller was running the show
So you don't see any pattern of meddling or incompetence in ownership/upper management in the past 25 years? Hmmm ...
Even if this was Cho's fault, this continues to make the Blazers organization less and less attractive to potential GM and coaching candidates looking for a stable organization to work for. What a disaster...
Maybe Cho wanted to make moves but had limited power and got tired of it. I have a feeling it was Cho that decided to walk.
That doesn't say much about their decision last off-season then. Still, all of one season, in which he made a good trade of significant consequence, seems a bit silly to base a decision that you were all wrong about a guy. I think that while we don't know with any certainty whether this specific move was right or wrong, the team risks looking unstable and like they have no idea what they're doing....which can impact the quality of people they can attract going forward. And of course there's the danger that they actually are unstable and have no idea what they're doing.
Is this good or bad??? The frustrating part and I wasn't able to tell you guys yet, but he was going to announce on Courtside tonight that I was about to be promoted from the TV crew to be his 3rd asst. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
