Did I say that or are you putting words in my mouth? Hmmm.

I'm only talking about this specific Blazers' decision relative to letting Cho go. They were either wrong when the hired him or wrong now in letting him go so quickly. I'm just saying that I haven't seen anything out of him to indicate that he's ever likely to be accepted as a dynamic leader for the team's future. There's nothing more incompetent than avoiding making a needed decision just because you're afraid of looking incompetent.

When KP was fired, there was an argument made that no GMs will want to work with PA. Shortly thereafter, Cho was hired.

Now I'm reading the same concerns with the Cho firing. This may be a ownership issue, but I doubt they will have a problem getting a quality GM to replace Cho.

My theory is he is really just a beta male number cruncher with no real negotiation skills. Which is what I said last summer.

I think it's more of a Roy v. Cho situation, rather than a Warren LeGarie ultimatum

    Roy = 72M in costs. Cho...maybe 2M? Roy's way or the highway.

Buchanan and Born have my confidence in the draft/FA.

    Breaking news!

Cho is sitting in his car at the practice facility honking his horn twice while laughing hysterically.

More updates as I get them.

Since it appears the front office will always be a clusterfuck perhaps Portland should try and steal David Kahn from the T'Wolves.

At least the trainwreck will be funny then.
Right now it's just kind of pathetic.

I think PA wanted to do something insane (like sign Patty Mills to a multi-year deal) and Cho told him he was crazy.

And now for the truly nerdy part of the post:
The Vulcans should rename themselves Romulans since they don't actually use logic for much of anything and instead go by gut feeling.

Management either hired a guy so incompetent that he couldn't last a year or they fired a competent man prematurely.

I don't know how good of a GM Cho will be, and I've been willing to give Vulcan and PA the benefit of the doubt, but...

Unless the team has someone better lined up, then it looks like a mistake to me.

It's fun to speculate, I guess.

    -- Was Cho incompetent?
-- Does Miller (or someone higher on the food chain) want more control than Cho wanted to give?
-- Did Cho want to go another direction? (Blow it up? Keep Roy muzzled?)
-- Did Cho and Nate clash?

This strikes me as very odd, and given the recent Canzano reporting/speculation it makes me think there's something going on beyond the normal GM firing.

Gee, does anybody still think that Paul Allen has a fucking clue what he is doing?

I'll catch up in this thread, but while Cho wasn't the greatest GM, he should at least get a few years to put a team together.

I have my doubts... the draft hasn't gone very well recently and the last two years, in particular, look like total busts.

You mean like how they replaced KP?

They need a rubber stamp yes man.
I hear Mo Cheeks could be had for the right price (A box of popcorn and a free hand towel).

Please. That was Larry Miller using a personal relationship. I'm sure Cho helped, but Wallace had been a target for a few years.
