I didn't read any of the 11 pages of this thread, so i will just post my initial thoughts. I could care less. My gut feeling is that he was a smart guy who lacked leadership and sales skills. I doubt the players/coaches could care less either because I doubt he bonded with anyone. Just a guess.

I am sure he did an adequate job. He certainly did not hurt us. But in the end they probably think they can do better.

I can't believe that Cho and Paul couldn't get along. Makes NO sense. Cho was the most quiet, timid, shy person I have ever been around in my life. The ANTI-Pritchard! He would be on the plane and come up and talk to Rice and I..... you could barley get more then 1 word answers out of him.

Email from Cho to the TrailBlazers staff a few minutes ago.....

"Obviously it's a difficult day, but I want to truly thank Paul Allen and Larry Miller for the opportunity they gave me here in Portland," said Cho. "I also want to thank the fans, players, coaches, business office staff and especially my basketball operations staff who have supported me along the way. I feel good about the work we've done here and I know the Trail Blazers are headed in the right direction."

Unless Canzano is on the Trail Blazers staff, this is the same thing he got from Cho.

I suppose that's possible. However there have been no reports that I'm aware that state Rich Cho didn't make that deal.

Philosophical differences? If Cho's vision didn't match what Paul wanted, maybe he didn't want to just be a "yes" man.

Nate has outlasted 3 GMs. I can't understand how.

Wow, I never would have thought they'd fire him after only one year! Don't GMs normally get a few years, or have to make some big time blunders before they are canned?

I'm really questioning Paul Allen here. I don't understand why he fired KP, and this is even more bizaare because Cho never got a chance.

We really don't know enough about this to say if it's a mistake or not- Cho had one good trade, so from that perspective it's disappointing. If he was fired over not believing in Brandon Roy, then i'm disgusted with this. If he was fired for not wanting to gamble on Oden, then i'm okay with it. If he was fired because he lacked the people skills to lead the organization, then i'm okay with it. If he was fired for sleeping with one of Paul Allen's girlfriends, then... lol. We just don't know enough. Let's see who we hire next.

Somewhere Bob Whitsitt is on the phone, making Paul Allen happy and Canzano unhappy.

If not for the Oregonian's continuing dominance of public opinion, Whitsitt would be rehired.

After he gets fired, we have no solid coaches show interest, and we settle for a sub-par coach; I would hope you'll understand.

I am quiet shocked at this. I was hoping for an off season full of possibilities (it still is) because of all of our trade pieces. What most concerns me is that the firing puts this organization in some harsh light. Did we fire Cho because our owner is an egotistical madman or was it something behind the scenes that none of us know yet.
I don't think we will have as hard of a time finding a new GM as the Media thinks. A job very few people get to have that pays a very reasonable amount,

    What an absolute joke!

Yet the two guys who resoundingly should be fired; Larry 'Slimy' Miller & Nate McClueless, are still here.
They fire the one guy who had the balls to stand up to the hierarchy and not be another 'Yes man'.

The teams upper management is laughable at best.

Allen, IMO isn't an egotistical madman. I think we already know that this owner has put out millions of dollars for this team. I think this has more to do with frustration, possibly character clashes within management and possible player dealings that didn't take place.

Maybe Cho wasn't the right person for the job. One will never know. I seriously think there is much more to this than just "chemistry problems". I don't think Allen would endorse firing Cho unless it was brought to his attention that there is a serious problem.

Actually, I don't think he had any balls. The guy would never put his neck on the line. All his answers to questions were very politician-like. He never really answered any questions, never really said what his plans where. In fact, as much as this is such a shock to me; I actually think this maybe a good move. But hey go ahead and run me through the coals on this one.

I personally think Allen is one of the best Owners in the NBA. He has always proven that he will do whatever he can financially to give us a winning team. I think this is a Miller call. And honestly I think Miller is a good president.
