I was at the press conference today and got to ask Larry a couple of questions after. Here are mine and a couple others. Hiring process GM Candidates When they realized it wasn't going to work Who made the decision
So it was a "chemistry" problem . . . Ya gotta love the euphemisms. It looks like this firing may end up being as mysterious as the Pritchard firing.
It was really weird because Miller couldn't site any specific examples of when communication broke down or issues they had. It was a very generic and blanket statement about it not being the right chemistry. I find it odd that this comes on the heals of the Brandon situation and the fact that the team was pushing him to get out and make comments about it. Maybe he didn't want to comply or maybe he didn't want to give their message about the situation.
Well I doubt we hear from Cho's camp either because he still wants to find another job. Other teams wouldn't want a GM to air out any dirty laundry. I bet all teams have their fair share.
The other amazing part is the fact that Miller came out and said they rushed the hiring of Rich Cho. It seems this time around the hiring process is going to be even harder. There were a lot of candidates that reportedly turned town the job, if that's true then they are going to be searching for a while. Who wants to come in and from outside appearances anyone who wants to make decisions will be fired.
At some point in time if you find you're hiring the wrong guys, you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself if the problem is with the people you're hiring or if the problem is you.
