Chad Ford updated his top-100 prospects and Donatas Motiejunas dropped like a rock - he's now out of his top-20.

I remember watching Vucevic in Pac-10 play ... He definitely intrigues me: skilled, tough ... hard to say if he's much more than a role-player, but I think he could at least be serviceable as a center.

Draft express says MEM rejected an offer of #4 + TPE for Rudy Gay from the Cavs.

Talent wise it's no contest in favor of CLE, but MEM would get out of that ridiculous contract they gave Gay. I would have done it if I were them.

Who do they take at 4? Gay's paid a lot, sure. But if you have a decent run in the playoffs, and have a young team, I don't think the best idea is sending people off from it. Move Mayo maybe, to save some cash, and probably Conley in another year. Keep Gay, Zach and Gasol. don't blame them for rejecting it.

Rudy Gay would arguably be worth the #1 pick in this draft IMO, certainly more than #4....no wonder MEM rejected it....

I don't mind Faried, as I think he can immediately step in and be a rotation player, but I don't see him as a player who will ever be a starter on an ok team.

Gay had absolutely nothing to do with Memphis's playoff run.. And their record in the regular season was better without him.

faried would come in and rebound right away which would be nice, you know, to have a #1 draft pick play basketball

Faried is one of the few guys in this draft I would like to see in a Blazer Uniform. A classic hard-hat-and-lunch-bucket kind of guy. He strikes me as well suited to be a back-up for LMA, or even get some burn alongside LMA.

I've liked him for awhile and one of the few aspects of a players game that almost always translates to the NBA is rebounding.

Lots of reports coming out of Minnesota that T-Wolves really want to move that No. 2 pick.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

Thought I'd throw a name out there to keep this discussion fresh: Kyle Singler.

My thought on him is that he very likely will be available at the end of the 1st round (easiest picks to purchase -- I'm not advocating us using OUR pick on him, but if we can get him for cash) and seems like he would be a terrific glue guy off the bench at the 3. Throw in the local guy ties and his all-out hustle, do-everything type of game (reminds me of a less athletic Jerome Kersey, also compared to Kiki V - 2 beloved former Blazers - he plays the type of ball that Blazer fans love)

With Crash now our starting 3, I think drafting Singler would allow us to turn Batum into a moveable asset either for a young PG or a more reliable C option while Singler and Babbit fight over the backup 3 minutes - also allows Claver to develop abroad and (ideally) turn into our next Batum when Crash is ready to retire/move on...

Thoughts? It wouldn't be a sexy move, but one that could provide us with some flexibility from a roster standpoint, and one that likely, the fans would embrace on the court...

NO TO SINGLER. Singler is not an NBA player.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

It was more of a spitball idea - the concept of replacing Nic cheaply and flipping him for another piece, but off the top of my head, NJ and Den seem decent candidates since they're looking at signing players to big deals imminently. Chicago having those 2 late picks could be a possibility, and quite frankly, in this draft, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It wouldn't shock me to see a team or two be totally "blah" about the available talent left that will be given a guaranteed deal, so you never know...

I think Singler is a much better player than his horrible senior year would indicate. He brings a grittiness and high bball IQ. I wouldn't be devastated if we used a late 1st or 2nd round pick on him.

I hope we don't end up with Singler. Would be a terrible pick, IMO. Unless we are doing it to maybe start a Singler and Babbitt reality show. Make them room mates or something.
