Someone wrote a post on ESPN today about the top 5 rotations in baseball right now, and how none of them are a slam-dunk winner. The 5? Phillies (duh) Rangers Mariners Giants A's Funny to me that 3 of those are in the AL West, and the Phils are the only "major market" team. The East Coast majors are going after 160M+ bats, while these guys are investing in young pitching.
I remember in the start of the year people where all scared because the Rangers didn't have Lee anymore. Looks like they didn't need him. Ogando has been a MAJOR uprise for that Texas team this year.
Year of the pitcher? Maybe, but if that's the case, why have we seen so many 3HR games recently? There's been what, three in the last week, with Giambi, Corey Hart and Beltran? Pitching has been outstanding for the most part this year, but the hitting has been right there too (note the tear that Bautista is on, and the fact that Granderson already has 16 long balls).
or the fact that the M's just ripped off 9 games in a row of pitchers going 7+ innings with 2 or less runs. First time that's happened in 22 years. Predictably, we go 5-4.
