Penn State hires Eddie Fogler to advise

    Penn State is getting advice from former Vanderbilt and South Carolina coach Eddie Fogler on the search for Ed DeChellis' replacement.

    DeChellis resigned this week after eight seasons as Penn State's coach to take the same job at Navy.

    Team spokesman Brian Siegrist said Wednesday that Fogler was hired to assist athletic director Tim Curley. Fogler has also helped with past coaching searches at Georgia Tech and Auburn.

    Penn State considered East Carolina coach Jeff Lebo, who is from Carlisle, Pa., sources said, but Lebo said Friday that he will remain with the Pirates.
