Crazy. But, I'd be weary of giving this too much attention, especially after hearing about how Patternash went gaga over Marty going off in the pre-draft workout in 05.

Looks like Isaiah Thomas is improving his draft stock. His main concern (other than size) is his shooting. He was up near the top in all of the shooting drills.

I wonder if he's been working with Ryan Appeby, who played at UW a couple years ago. I guess he worked with a bunch of the players last summer, which led to better shooting last season. Kid could stroke it. Too bad that is about all he could do.

Big surprise for me was Klay Thompson. Bottom 5 in the spot up three, for a supposed great shooter. That's going to hurt his stock.

none of these results will really hurt their stocks that much id say, but this was probably the most pressure filled "practice" shooting they have ever done

a horrible showing like klay doesnt hurt as much because scouts have a million miles of film to watch

an unknown can really help himself though i guess by absolutely killing it

I've been high on Isaiah Thomas this past season. I think he can have a JJ Barea type of career.

Measuring a full 5'10.5" (opposed to 5'8"), testing the best overall athlete at the combine, he's an obvious upgrade over Patty.

its not a surprise that the smallest guy is the best athlete...id rather they went for a taller player, but thats just me...Darius Morris!

It's funny how similar in measurements he is to Nate Robinson. Just because they went to the same school. Minus 5 inches on the vertical. Damn. I wish his stock wouldn't climb. I don't hate him in the second round. Not a fan of him at 21.

Is 6'6 PG/athletic freak/lockdown defender Iman Shupert worth discussing? http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Iman-Shumpert-5156/

He's strong enough (18 bench reps - holy crap) and long enough (6'9 1/2 wingspan, 42 inch vert, 11' 9 1/2 max vert) to guard 2's OR PGs.

As an underclassman he played PG and mostly distributed but this past year they needed him to be a scorer so he has some experience doing that as well.

If Roy is Amnestied, Shumpert sounds like an intriguing player to potentially evolve into a similar role... His #s are, at the very least, intriguing.

They already did once, trading for Baron Davis and what was scheduled to be the 8th pick.

I'd happily offer Babbitt and Miller for Gordon and the 8th pick. They save more money on the deal. We'd be desperate for a PG, but could hope to re-sign Miller. And have Gordon be our Jason Terry. Career 40% 3 point shooter.

Yeah but at least with trading for baron they are actually keeping him...PA has some competition in the money spending department apparently

True. Although the last year of Rip's deal isn't fully guaranteed. Although, 9 of it is, so it's still 21-ish owed. If they can buy him out for slightly less than that, maybe give him 18 to go away, since he knows he can get close to MLE to go to somewhere like Chicago, and make up the difference. Then they still likely overpay, but starting a team from scratch, having Irving, and then a guy they presumably view as a leading scorer type in Williams is a good place to start at the 1 and 3. Varejao at the 5, Hickson the 4, Davis and Jamison providing veteran leadership. Or, used as further trade chips, who knows. It's a lot to spend. But worth it for them.

Another possibility for us, if the deal went through, is offering Batum for the 4th pick. If Kahn was interested last season, he might still be this season, in what is a weaker draft.

I can't really comment on him, because I don't recall ever watching him play, but based on his scouting reports he strikes me as having a very similar profile to Eliot Williams ... I guess there'd be nothing inherently wrong with having two combo guards who jump out of the gym, but that seems like a lot of replication in the tweener department.

If he is truly 18 he's going to be a monster in a few years, he's already built like Ben Wallace.

KEMBA! We have pieces to move to get the 3 - 6 pick. I feel like it would be a good year to go against the grain and try to build through the draft. Also I think we need someone who can create their own shot.
I also like Marshon Brooks, Josh Selby, Reggie Jackson if we go for a big its gotta be Faried or bust!

    no more euro stashers!

I think we should trade up and try and snag Burks. Dude's going to be a stud, has star type potential and is so versatile. He made Colorado exciting this year. I dont care how many SG's we have, he might go down as the best player in this draft IMO.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

Some would think after measuring 6'6" (w/o shoes) would hurt his stock but I think his freakish build and reach has helped Faried. For the sake of comparison:

    6'7.5" Kenneth Faried:

    No step vertical reach: 11'6.5"
    Max vertical reach: 11'11"

    6'11" Enes Kanter

    No step vertical reach: 11'3.5"
    Max vertical reach: 11'10"

    6'11" DeMarcus Cousins:

    No step vertical reach: 11'4.5"
    Max vertical reach: 11'8.5"

    6'11" Larry Sanders:

    No step vertical reach: 11'5.5"
    Max vertical reach: 11'8"

    6'10" Jeff Pendergraph:

    No step vertical reach: 11'6"
    Max vertical reach: 11'10"

    7'0" Joakim Noah:

    No step vertical reach: 11'7"
    Max vertical reach: 12'0"

    6'10" Al Horford:

    No step vertical reach: 11'6"
    Max vertical reach: 11'10.5"

    6'7" Paul Millsap:

    No step vertical reach: 11'2"
    Max vertical reach: 11'6"
