Reports are plopping up on Mavs board all over on tonight's games. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I also just got back from the game. Here's what I saw.- Pavel is a bust man. Not only as above foul prone but he isn't that strong. He's tall however and made it tough on a few guys inside. But the guy took him all of 10 feet outside and shot over him all night. The only thing that I will say about him is that he sort of seemed to show a little bit of a nasty streak, at least I thought his fourth foul came on a pretty intentional elbow to some guy. He doesn't even set a good pick, a bust imo.- Josh Powell was really, really active and was over the rim all night long. Nice thing about him was that he let the game come to him, took his shots when he was open, set good nba picks, rebounded and contested defensively really well. He seemed the most mature player out there.- Rawle Marshall looked like a rookie forcing up a bunch of stuff, throwing up junk at the rim and basically looking like an undrafted player. He won't be on the roster this year imo.- A guy name Segena', Sagana' something I liked a lot. He was taller than Powell but he moved really well, he and josh were pretty studly in there and the Nigerians have some pretty hefty dudes imo. Their strengths I thought were there size inside. - Mo had one pretty bad streak sandwiched between two really good ones. In the first period he looked like the most senior guy on the court. He was really court aware, hit his shots and got some really nice assists. He was really under control. Then the bad period occurred where he seemed to force a little too much especially around the basket against as I said some pretty stout inside guys. I'm not sure he finised a basket in the second quarter. He also started missing some shots as he looked gassed. In the fourth he pretty much put the game away in a few ways. Grabbed a rebound and pushed it up the court for a few assists to the big guy and hit a couple of 3s that iced it. His shot: Really nice shooter it appears. He was taking NBA 3ptrs and hitting them. He will be a most excellent spot up shooter from anywhere. He had one at the end of the first half I think that was a step inside of half court and he just took a shot, not really a running fling but pretty much a jump shot. He's got plenty of range. His ball-handling is much better than Mike Finley's imo, there were a few times when he stopped his dribble and got into trouble but he seemed to learn how they were doubling out on him and fixed it. Really, really good team player. IMO...He'll get some time this year. He's not as big as griffin for sure but he's a lot better offensively and aggressive.Defensively...he got an incomplete from me. I didn't see much that looked exceptional. He looked like more of an offensive guy to me than defensive.DJBenga made an appearance on the sideline which was pretty cool. The bottom bowl of the arena was about 2/3's full. So Mo, Josh, the #40(segala or something) look like players. Everyone else, maybe next year. Rawle was really pretty dissappointing to me. I don't think he seems to have enough poise about him.</div> This was the best overall review I read and it pretty much summed up everyone's feeling about the game. Ager seems like a good pick, but iffy on how much time he will get during the season. Also, found out that #40 is actually Pops Mensah Bonsu and seems like he might have a shot at making the roster. That's bad stuff about Rawle and Pavel. Rawle's playing on thin ice with Mavericks ability to not pick up his option and open up a roster spot. All signs are pointing to Benga resigning, with him showing up for their summer league(he's not participating), Avery visiting his home in Congo and Donnie saying they will try to resign him. Oh and just to add, Mavs have offered Mike James a three year deal for the MLE(James wants 5 years, and that's where talks stalled). Houston can have him if he wants a longer deal. Interesting offseason so far. Hopefully we get our team set early.
NOOOOOOOOO. Just great, we stunted Devin Harris's growth... He was just making rookie mistakes, now he has to play behind Mike James...
Well to be perfectly honest, Harris isn't ready to start every day for us...not yet, I don't care what he did in the playoffs, or how good he is according to some people.Look, Harris still needs, at least, another year to become an NBA floor leading, PG...he's good right now, as the backup and speed option to push the ball, but his decision making isn't up to par yet, and he isn't a consitent enough scorer...you see him score 30, then he didn't get close for the rest of the playoffs...you see him hit a good outside jumper, than he's off the rest of the game.James is a better PG than Terry, and would benifit this team alot, IMO>
Whoa, wtf? I thought summer league didn't start until the 6th, or is that just the Vegas Summer League? Does anyone have a link to any of these summer leagues even if they havn't started yet? I would also love a link to the homepage of the summer league Dallas is in right now. P.S. - Ager is a player.
CelticBalla32 "I thought summer league didn't start until the 6th, or is that just the Vegas Summer League?" Just a Exibition Game between our SL Squad and the Nigerian Team. + does anyone know if Kevin Pittsnogle's playing for the Mavericks or the Heat in the Summer League?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>does anyone know if Kevin Pittsnogle's playing for the Mavericks or the Heat in the Summer League?</div> He's on the Heat squad for the Vegas one, and will join us for the Utah one. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>NOOOOOOOOO. James hasn't even accepted our offer because he wants 5 years and were offering 3. That's where it's stalled. But James can be a good 6th man for us, especially when Stack leaves. Harris still needs another year of seasoning, this signing will not hurt him. Mavs fans need to jump on the Pops bandwagoner, he has a legit shot of making the roster.

I guess those teams weren't playing too hard or something.
For anyone saying Devin Harris isn't ready to start just look at the Spurs series. That is proof that he is ready and with an offseason to develop you will see a big improvement hopefully in his jumpshooting and his passing. Mike James is not better than Jason Terry because he doesn't understand how to play team ball. James is also 3 years older than Jason Terry.

Harris is still inconsistent as seen in those playoffs you talk of, but his starting position is not in jeopardy. It's his spot to lose.
One good series vs the Spurs doesnt' mean Harris is ready to start. He's the backup PG for a reason...HE'S NOT READY to start...c'mon Mavsfan, you have to see that too.Maybe at some point next year, the light will come on...and he'll have what it takes. But we are stuck with Terry, Harris, and Anger, at least, so I think the Guard positions will be more fluid than anything else.
I thought the first time it was a typo, but his name's not Anger. It's Ager. But you can't forget about Daniels, he's here unless we find a good deal. Also, Stackhouse won't be gone. Were actually stacked at guards, and if we don't land James, I'm fine with who we have.
Why do you want to get rid of Daniels? I have no problem with him except his inconsistency. He has talent. Also, that trade doesn't work straight up.
I don't know why everyone is saying Stackhouse can't leave. He is getting older so I think that has to be a concern for Mark Cuban. Stackhouse's ego probably prevents them from saying anything but he might get traded for a backup power forward as well as Daniels. Also I believe it's Stackhouse's contract year.

Also I believe it's Stackhouse's contract year.</div> Because Stack has a expiring contract and that will help towards putting the Mavs under the luxury tax when they have to extend Howard and also Dirk's extension. Why do you think Van Horn whose leaving, was not traded before the deadline. To make more room with Terry's contract and the upcoming extensions. Both Stack and Van Horn's contract being wiped off keeps Mavs under the tax. Trading Stack will bring in added contracts, that Cubes will have to add to his payroll and possibly put them over the tax. Something if you noticed by the moves he's made the past 2 years, he doesn't want happening. So it's simple, Stack is not going anywhere until the end of next year. Stop talking sh*t about his ego preventing a trade, that never stopped Cubes when we had our revolving door movement. Daniels is locked up unlike Stack and has more value in that he's a young player with potential. Also, trading his contract and getting another does not hurt because again, Daniels has a long term deal. So were basically swapping players unlike with Stack where Cubes loses a piece towards cutting into the luxury tax. Phew.
If they want to trade Stack they will, but if they do I think they're idiots. First there's the cap situation, and then there's the fact that Stack is a great fit for this team. As you said in another thread, don't look at the stats, look at the intangibles - Stack brings toughness and is a veteran, and this team sometimes lacks both. He's great for the team and at times can change the game with his bench scoring. You can say what you want about Stack, but he's been nothing but great for this team, and his ego really isn't that bad. (One of my best friends knows him - he's his neighbor.) As he's said at one point during the season when a benchwarmer on another team spoke up - he thinks he's good enough to start but he's smart enough to realize that it's not the best situation for the team. Stack just wants to win.
Yes, he's a guy who has a decent shot at making the roster if continues to improve. He outplayed Rawle so far in the Nigeria game. If he continues to do that, Rawle is gone. In addition, the guy has a knack for defense, says his ideal position is sf, but can guard pf. Something I think Avery likes. He's one to watch in the summer league.
