Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., understandably has been under a microscope during his 8-year career. His father, Julio Sr., is an all-time great and people want to see if the younger Chavez is a chip off the old block. Well, that is doubtful. Julio Sr., was such a terrific and vicious fighter anyone would be hard-pressed to match him. After 44 fights and a record of 42-0-1 with 30 knockouts and one no-contest, however, Julio Jr. will get a shot at his first major championship tonight when he challenges Sebastian Zbik of Germany for his middleweight title at Staples Center (on HBO). Julio Jr., has handled the inquiries about fighting in his father's shadow very well. He also has made it clear even though he appreciates and applauds all of his father's accomplishments - the elder Chavez went 107-6-2 with 86 knockouts - he wants to make his own name. "My name is Julio Cesar Chavez right now and it always will be my name and I'm very proud to carry that name," he said. "I am ready right now to win the title and decide my own history and my own legacy." Read more: http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_18204261
