Payton is better in scoring..</div>CB4 you should shut up when your talking our your ass, you obviously have no clue what your saying in this arguement. First you bring no valid reasoning to why he's a better defender, and just because he averages 1 more apg and 1 more rebound hes better? [IMG]

And he is the better passer because he is the smartest player in basketball, doesnt turn the ball over much at all, makes smart decisions, nice passes. He is just the better passer.

Yea PrimeTime, I'' admit I've only seen a few games of Gary Payton in his prime, but in comparison to Kidd in his Prime, Kidd was just as good a defender, and possibly better int he passing lane. In terms of scoring, Payton might have been a little better, but there was no comparison in passing.Kidd just makes everyone look so good.

GP is a much better defender. I have a whole collection of GP tapes from back when my dad used to tape games for me when I was little. also, i download some bball games off torrents all the time. GP is better than Kidd except in passing, but he's almost as good. but primetime, i dont know wtf you're talking about cuz i have GP in front of Kidd.

I stayed silent for the people who weren't mentioning the Big O because honestly they are probably unaware. Please, enlighten me on just how Steve Nash is better than Oscar.

    Re: The top 5 PG's All-Time

    1. Magic - How he can't be #1 is beyond me.2. Isiah - Like Magic he could take over the game in crunch time.3. Stockton - The length of his career and his assist numbers are just phenomenal.4. Payton - No PG in the history of the NBA played better defense than this guy. He would abuse everyone else at his position at both ends of the floor.5. Frazier - He's the reason the Knicks have a title. Jason Kidd - A Hall of Famer, but he's never won a title or been a great scorer. Bob Cousy - Another Hall of Famer, but he had a lot more help on his team than any of the other guys on this list. He was a pioneer, but the game has evolved as time went on. Steve Nash - The guy has only had several great years while all these other guys were dominant for a decade or more.

    Re: The top 5 PG's All-Time

    1. Magic Johnson-best passer of all time, could score, and was a winner. Hes the best.2. Oscar Robertson-Averaged a triple double his 2nd year in the league and almost averaged one his rookie year as well. Thats amazing3. John Stockton-one of the best passers of all time, one of the best stealers of all time, and basically invented the pick and roll.4. Isiah Thomas-great winner who could take over games.5. Gary Payton-one of the best perimeter defenders of all time

Thats amazing</div>Actually, if you average it out, he averaged a triple-double for his first five years. Amazing. Especially when you throw in the fact that he never really had a championship-level supporting class until much later in his career with the Bucks. For being one of the more amazing NBA players in it's history, it's amazing at just how many people never mention him among all-time greats. Hell, a few posts ago, someone said Steve Nash was better. Oscar was the prototype for the "big guard." He had all of the tools, and a 6'5", he was an unstoppable force for many teams.
