    "Focus is on the draft"

As in tease the fans with rumors of trading up high in the lotto and then draft some guy we stash in Europe for a better part of a decade.

All I asked for was a link. What is it, 4 posts later from you, and you still won't (read: can't) provide a link. Instead, you hi-jacked the thread and made it about me, simply because someone challenged your memory of what I imagine is the same interview on Jim Rome.

Please try to stay on-topic. This talk of "trolls" and "POS" isn't going to make a link majically appear for you. :)

3 posts later... in addition to being easily confused by words it doesn't come as a surprise you aren't so hot with numbers either.

and just to get this straight, you think there are links to radio broadcasts from 5 1/2 years ago?

I hijacked the thread? SOS from Papatroll. You initially stated I was "talking out my ass" in response to my claim of a memory of a radio broadcast that was very much on topic. You went on to say that no one else had heard the same thing even though you'd already responded to the poster who had said he heard the same thing. Were you lying at that point or is your memory really so bad that you can't remember what you read and typed less then a day back? Now you've moved past the attack/insult stage to stage 2 where you claim you're the victim when called on your transparent BS.

Every single night, seemingly every other thread... nice life you've got going there. I'd like to encourage you to follow through with your threat to lead the board exodus to another site. You just go on ahead and we'll all be there in a minute or two...

I asked for a link. Without one, I assumed that the person who posted it was talking out of their ass.

    Still no link...

again, are you so dense that you think there are links to radio broadcasts from 5 1/2 years ago?

you claimed no one else recalled the same broadcast, even though you'd already responded to someone who claimed he'd heard the same thing. Pretty much answers that question eh?

I'm just looking for a link with a quote where KP gives Patterson full credit for making the deals, and you decide to have a meltdown, criticize my life, and call me names.

Where is the link? You seem to have anger issues when others ask for a little bit of proof. You've been wrong before, you've made ridiculous comparisons before, you've had battles with other posters ... and now you have to resort the the "we" card in order to feel better about yourself.

    Sad, isn't it?

Anyhow, since your little anecdote about KP was really a side story, and because you can't source it, I think we're done, aren't we?

... you so politely started looking for a link right after you said I was "talking out my ass"

The victim act is truly pathetic

Yes, you're done. There is no link, there never was claimed to be a link, your strawman was really weak and you know it, so you're bowing out. Understood.

Just remember Troll, because of the value I place on our exchanges and all that I learn from you, I'd rather we don't interact. I only respond to your nonsense after about the third or forth time you've taken a swipe at me. Keep proving yourself by going after posters who leave you alone

and Ha Ha at you saying anyone has anger issues... what would be truly funny is if you started a poll thread on which posters have issues. I'm guessing there would be a runaway weiner :smiley-trophy:

Not to get back on topic......

People keep saying we don't know why Cho was fired. Really? The Blazers were pretty clear that it *wasn't* for job performance issues.

So, either the Blazers are liars, or they fired the guy without a *good* reason. Which kinda negates the claim that PA is all about trying to win.

Or Cho was picked as an interim kind of thing because the team needed someone, and the owner doesn't see him as a long term fit.

That makes absolutely no sense. Why give him a 3-year contract if the plan was for him to be a short term (10 months) interim GM? When they hired the guy, they made a huge point about what a great communicator and "people person" he was:

"Rich is the perfect fit for our organization," said Miller. “He has the right balance of basketball knowledge, business acumen and tremendous people skills. Everyone I spoke to about Rich commented not just on his qualifications but on who he is as a person. He is well known for his ability to connect genuinely with people. Rich will be a great fit for our organization and for Portland. He is an executive on the rise and we're thrilled to have him as a Trail Blazer."

    And then, 10 months later:

"One of the things that was probably one of the most important things about the GM role is that there has to be a connection and a chemistry with the owner. Not just with the owner but mainly with the owner and the rest of the management. The reality is in this particular situation there just wasn’t that chemistry."

So, either Cho doesn't really have such tremendous people skills and lacks the ability to connect genuinely with people, in which case the Blazers fucked up by incorrectly evaluating those skills when they hired him, or the chemistry problem and lack of communication skills lies with the owner, Mr. Paul Allen. It sounds to me like Cho wasn't willing to kiss Paul Allen's ass and tell him what he wanted to hear, and that appears to be a career limiting move as far as Mr. Allen is concerned.

I believe that the reason stated for Cho's dismissal was that Paul Allen wasn't comfortable with him as GM of the Blazers. For a management position like GM of an NBA team, lack of confidence of the owner is the only *good* reason necessary for being fired. If Paul Allen had come to believe that Cho wasn't the man to put the Blazers into contention, I fail to see how that says he's not all about trying to win. I can see how you can be of the opinion that PA gets in the way of the team's best interests, but I don't see any evidence that he doesn't want to win a title.

Unfortunately, wanting to win a title and actually doing what it takes to win a title aren't the same things. And as much as Paul Allen wants to win a championship, the moves and decisions he's made over the past year have the team moving in the wrong direction. Either he's hiring the wrong people (his fault), or he's hiring the right people, but not letting them do their job (also his fault). Either way, his decisions are hurting this team's chances to win a championship. I understand that there is no set formula for winning an NBA championship, but one thing I do know is that what Paul Allen is doing now is NOT the right way to bring an NBA championship to Portland. He needs to hire the right person for the job and then step back and let that person do what they were hired to do.

In 10 months Rich Cho went from being "the perfect fit for our organization" to being fired because he was a poor fit. Either way, Paul Allen was 100% wrong 50% of the time, and you don't win championships by winning 50% of the time Yeah, I know that's a totally mixed up analogy, but my point is Paul Allen's recent/current behavior is hurting this teams chance to win a title. The team seems to lack a long term plan and that lack of a plan starts at the top. Playing musical chairs with the GM position doesn't help this team get any closer to winning a championship. In fact, it gets them further away. We are now heading into the second draft in a row without a GM in place. Last years draft was a disaster. When your franchise cornerstones are constantly injured, and you can't attract top free agents, can you really afford to wiff on another draft?

And, given the recent college players we've selected, compared to those we passed on, I don't think turning the draft over to the guy who was in charge college scouting is a good plan. Hell, I think it's a horrible plan. Chad Buchanan has ZERO experience making trades - and if we want to get closer to winning a championship, we need to move up in this draft to get a player that will have an immediate impact. And, who was the last college player we drafted (or obtained in a draft day trade) that actually helped get us closer to winning a championship. I'm pretty sure it was Brandon Roy and unfortunately, that story is not ending well. What exactly has Chad Buchanan done that would inspire any confidence that the team will come out of this draft better than they are going in? Will he do a better job than Cho? Who knows, we never got to see Cho run a draft.

I don't disagree with much of anything you said, BNM, but if Cho lost Allen's trust, then he had to go. We can whistle in the wind about PA's quirkiness, but the guy owns the team and doesn't seem inclined to sell it. As long as that's the case, then the best we can hope for is that PA finds a GM that's good and who can keep PA satisfied. Whitsitt and Petrie seemed to be able to do it previously, so I'm hopeful that there's a qualified individual out there who will be the person for the job.

I disagree. I not sure the Blazers are moving in the wrong irection but the fact they aren't moving up has to do with injuries more than any personel decision.

So you say the the moves he has made in the past year has the team moving in the wrong direction. the moves I see are aquiring Camby, Matthews and Wallace. How does that have the team moving in the wrong direction.

Basically the only moves that didn't make sense to the public was the GM's moves, but that really hasn't hurt the Blazers. I see the arguement about the hurting the draft, but even with KP in place ofr a couple of years he started striking out in the draft. I thought the draft the last several years have sucked . . . with or without a stable GM.

None of us know what Cho was like to work with, or whether he was organized, efficient, disciplined, etc. In other words, Cho may have been screwing up left and right, as far as we know. If that's the case, Allen did the right thing by letting him go--and the organization may actually be better off now than they were for the last year.
