I want no part of Monte here. The guy is a straight up chucker who doesn't play defense and goes for steals all the time letting himself get blown by. We need some help scoring but by adding someone who takes more shots a game then LMA at a much much lower % and doesn't play both ends of the court is a player I want no part of.

They have a 6'4 defensive minded PG with good length and quickness that is probably more comparable to SGs. Their leading scorer was Elton Brand at 15.6 ppg. They have an affinity for undersized slashing SGs and Monta Ellis is probably the closest thing to AI since AI. They're sick of Iggy because he didn't pan out to be a go-to elite scoring wing player and hes actually making more money than Monta over the same length of contract. Its about the best fit there is that I can think of.

I think Monta would be a perfect fit in Portland. We need a consistent perimeter scorer who can take the pressure off LA. I think he could work as the PGOTF. Miller could be our veteran pg off the bench until his contract/career is over.

    Here's how it could work:

Portland sends Batum and Camby to Philly (Philly gets a good prospect who fits with their team and cap relief).

Philly sends Iggy to Golden State and Speights to Portland (GS gets who they want and we get a young C).

Golden State sends Monta Ellis to Portland (we get our scoring PGOTF).

Stein is now saying Philly has also talked to the Clippers about Kaman for Iggy.

    PG: Mo Williams
    SG: Eric Gordon
    SF: Andre Iguodala
    PF: Blake Griffin
    C: DeAndre Jordan

    That lineup is kinda scary.

They are trying to improve, that's nice to see. Portland on the other hand is only 1-2 pieces away from a championship according to management.

We have a center that all of us would be elated for if he played in 1/2 the games, a former all-star 2 guard that will be good every 3-4 games, a roster that is extremely unballanced and a scheme that doesn't take advantage of our best two players. Must be some mighty big pieces?

The management has proven to be absolute garbage. It'd be nice to see them being proactive for once rather than regressing.

Quite a few rumors about Iggy being discussed on Philly radio. Monta yesterday, and Kaman today.

A guy today who is apparently plugged in from a local sports radio stations thinks the GS trade is 50-50 in happening. But whatever it is, they all want to get rid of him.

Do we want him? What can we offer Philly?

We should want him, but I'm not sure the people who actually get to decide that want him. We should be fine with the 21st pick in the draft and the re-signing of some scrub to get us out of the damn first round. Can't wait to see what country our pick is from.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I think opinions would be sharply divided here over whether he'd be a good acquisition for Portland. I would love to acquire him, as he's one of the best wing defenders in the NBA, a great passer and just a really good all-around player in general (he can score well even if he's not a go-to guy and he can rebound).

The only downside is that he's a below average three-point shooter, so he doesn't really spread the court much.

It really depends on what Portland would have to give up for him. If they could swing a Batum/Camby type of deal, for example (give them a cheaper wing with upside and allow them to dump a lot of salary), Portland would have a really fantastic defensive team if Oden plays. Of course, they'd be devoid of depth...

    Check it out!

We have a pretty thin roster, to be sure, but the Sixers would have to waive some players and we could get them back later, or we could just guarantee our three Euros minutes if they came over RIGHT NOW. But we'd have a pretty killer playoff rotation:

Bigs: Aldridge, Brand, Oden [Freeland/rookie (Vucevic?)]
    Wings: Wallace, Iguodala, Roy [Claver/rookie(?)]
PGs: Miller, Mills [Koponen/rookie [Darius Morris/Nolan Smith/Reggie Jackson?]

That team would almost be designed to match up with the Heat: Wallace takes LeBron, Iggy takes Wade, LaMarcus takes Bosh, the Heat have no answer for Miller/Roy/Oden!

Given Nate's recent comments about needing vets, and his experience coaching D on team USA, which was essentially Iguodala, I've got to think he's BEGGING Buchanan and Born to go after Iggy.

A Miller/Iggy/Wallace trio would have terrible spacing and Aldridge would get tripled teamed everytime down. But it's intriguing nonetheless.

Iggy/Wallace at the swing spots is one of the very rare types of lineups where I might prefer to have Patty Mills as our starting PG over Andre.

Wallace for Iggy, would Philly bite?

Maybe. But Batum and Camby? I would think they'd go for it. A young core of Jrue, Turner and Batum at the 1, 2, 3 is pretty nice. And saves them some money. For us, you start Miller(or upgrade), Iggy, Wallace, Aldridge, Oden? or, you could go Miller, Matthews, Iggy, Wallace, Aldridge in small ball lineups, which I could see us closing games out with. If they want to shed more salary, make it Batum and Camby for Iggy and Lou Williams. it's a million off, so, see ya Babbit. Or, send Minny Rudy in a 3 way, for the #20.

Better question might be "how good is Larry Miller's relationship with Ed Stefanski and Joshua Harris?"

    Those were Miller's words also.
