Just got the latest Medal of Honor and finished it. Not very experienced with them..... loved it! Wondering if you guys can recommend any other first person shooting games I would like for our PS3. I like the slower paced ones if that helps.
Uncharted 2 is a good one, it has a great story and fun online play. It's 3rd person though, I dont know how much that matters. If by slow paced you mean stealth aspects you could try any of the splinter cell games.
If you like a slow-paced FPS you can try Fallout 3/Fallout: New Vegas. It is an FPS with RPG elements (or an RPG with FPS elements). Play at your own pace. Both games feature up to 100hours of game-play unlike the campaigns in COD that are less than ten.
Splinter Cell? Ya, I like the ones where I have to sneak around instead of all out shoot 'em up shit all the time. Thanks man. Give me more guys!
Role playing elements. Skills, leveling up, conversations, quests, experience points, and the like. The game is non-linear meaning you can complete sections of it at your leisure though there is a main storyline you can come back to at anytime.
The game is offline. Neither do I, btw. Dead Space is ok. Dunno about the sequel. Long game with good atmosphere. Another one is Resistance 2 but I've never played it. People seem to like it.
I've never gotten more than 5 games into a season in an NBA game for some reason. Which is weird being how its my favorite sport. NCAA Football, and Fifa are the only games where I've played full seasons.
I'm a big fan of the Resident Evil series. The last one (RE5) wasn't my favorite, but it was very enjoyable playing it together with a friend (2 people can play at the same time cooperatively). Might be too scary for your son, don't know. If I'm going to play first person shooters I've always preferred them on the computer such as counterstrike. Army of Two is another one you could play cooperatively with your son. Not the best of games, but it's fun playing it with someone else.
Spec Ops in MW2 is really fun to play, especially if you have partner -- in your case, that would be your son.
FYI: Fallout 3/New Vegas are both a lot of fun ... Think Mad Max meets the world of Leave it to Beaver
There is no better FPS than Battlefield Bad Company 2. Huge maps, different classes that have to work together to be successful and realistic gravitational effects (depending on how far away an enemy is, when sniping you may have to lead the target or aim up to compensate for bullet drop).
