I want one thing and one thing only tomorrow night--A Dallas Mavericks victory!!! I can't remember a time when I so deeply wanted a team other than Portland to win the NBA title. It would be indescribably sweet to see LeBron James and Dwayne Wade and all that hype in Miami go down in flames. If Dallas wins tomorrow night, it's a win for every small market team in the league, and every underdog, and every single Cleveland Cavalier fan around the world. It's also a win for Dirk Nowitski, who is one of the hardest-working, classiest guys in the league, a guy who has paid his dues and deserves this championship. He never complains, never whines, and never seeks the spotlight--unlike LeBron James and Dwayne Wade, who can't seem to get enough of it. Who's with me? Go Mavs!!!
The same Dirk who has made, literally, a career out of flopping? In the history of the NBA he's on the all-time all-flop team. I hate that kind of sissy-ass crap. He's no favorite of mine and floppers are classless. Now, that said, I also want to see Dallas finish off Miami. The collusion that went on with that team and some of the classless things they do are off the charts.
I think he's been flopping less as of late. Also I've kept my sig going in respect of the Mavs... Also no team has won more games against the Mavs than the Blazers. I hope it stays that way Sunday.
Yeah, that caught my eye too. And that it's a victory for small market teams too. If anything, it's a victory for teams that have really rich owners and are willing to over-pay for players. You know, the anti-small market team.
Is it true the Blazers were offered Dirk for the Oden pick? Dirk does piss and moan, but he is still a great player.
maybe some people think market size is based on how many white players you have on your team, and since Dallas' best player is "white"the market is thus small.
True enough. What I was trying to get at (and didn't express very well) is that Dallas is not a "glamour" destination like L.A., Miami, Chicago, or New York. In that sense, it's a "small" place that exists in the shadows of those flashier places.
Holy Cow. The Mavs did it!!! I'm so happy for Nowitski and Kidd and the rest of that team--and what a kick in the pants it was to see the Heat lose this series.
There was a little part of me that was hoping Dirk would grab the mike and say, "To all the Jews here in South Florida, I'd just like to say 'Deutchland Uber Alles'", but then again I have a twisted sense of humor.
Like I said, my sense of humor is twisted. Then again, I lost an entire side of my family during WWII because they were Jewish, so it's gallows humor.
