4 years is forever, no downside to this for orlando, wiping out his option year shows HUGE confidence in the team, good for him
WAIT A MINUTE! NOT SO FAST LAKER HATERS! http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/213957/Howard_Not_Interested_In_Signing_Two_Year_Extension
doh! i really hope the magic dont cave and trade him, make him play it out, and if he really wants to join the lakers, let him sign a vet minimum deal
BTW, Nic is watching the Eurocamp with Dwight right now, according to his twitter. I wonder if Dwight even knows who Batum is. heh
Why did he say he'd sign if he wasn't intending to? I hope he gets financially bitch-slapped by the new CBA. Ed O.
How can they keep him? It's obviously a warning shot from Dwight that he'll leave if the management doesn't vastly improve the roster. I don't see how that's possible with very few, if any, trade assets on that roster.
They just need to swing for the fences, and hope things work out. Most important is to actually make moves, show DH that they are doing everything possible. Trade away current picks, future picks, Use the MLE and make some fucking trades.
Fixed for brevity. I don't think there's any "if" involved. I think he's just creating his cover story to leave without being the bad guy. I don't think he wants to be viewed like LeBron James...to me it seems like the "good guy" image is pretty important to Howard.
@NBAPRGuy NBA PR Guy Breaking News: According to sources It's official, Lakers will acquire Center Dwight Howard for Bynum/Odom and future 1st round draft picks!
As would I. Gasol is better now, and more durable, but Bynum is younger, not that much worse and still has upside potential. He fits what will now be a rebuilding situation much better than Gasol does. And keeping Gasol makes a lot more sense for LA, which is in a win-now mode.
I have no idea whether the rumour is credible, just commenting on which player I'd rather have as Orlando.
