I want to see Miller traded. My reasoning is this. If there is a lockout, and no season next year, we lose Miller for nothing. We simply can't afford to let that happen

Actually we CAN afford it..... at least Paul can. What we CAN'T afford is having Patty and Armon as our PGs.......... FAMS!!!!

-- CB to be aggressive and get the player he wants in this draft rather than hope he drops to #21.

-- Trade for a veteran (younger) PG.

-- An end to this Oden fiasco.

I like them both a ton, but as far as maximizing assets and pushing forward, I'd throw Camby into that mix as well.

As much as I like and even admire Miller's old man game, I have to agree. They must get something for him while they still can.

Amen. The Blazers need to leverage what limited resources they have, not just waste them.

Sort of a slap in his face. I don't think he'll take 1 yr deal.

Other teams are thinking the same way. To come out ahead we would have to find a team who believes less than we do, that there will be a lockout. They would then value his remaining time more than we do.

    1. Would like to see us draft Kenneth Faried
    2. Would like to see us move Batum/Miller/Camby/Rudy into a few solid players. I don't want to lose Batum but I think he will have to be in any trade for a really good veteran
    3. Lock Oden up long term at something like 8m a year for 4 to 5 years.

Could always skip 1 and 2 and just call up Philly/Minnesota give Philly Batum/Miller/Camby//Williams/ 21st and 2nd round picks for Holiday/Igoudala/Brand/Speights, Minnesota gives up Flynn/Webster to Philly and get Rudy/Wes from us.

I agree as well. He has been very solid for us, but If we could somehow manage to exchange Miller, Rudy and young players/draft picks/ Euro rights into a very good scoring PG I would be happy. Won't happen, but that's my hope.

I am confused on how Miller can be traded, I thought he was essentially a free agent at this point. How is this different than players in the past that have had team options?

It's a non-guaranteed final year, as opposed to a team option. The difference being that a team has to act to pick up an option; no action=no final year. With Andre, the team would have to act to cut him; no action=continuation of existing contract. Fine line, but it means that his current situation is tradeable, whereas the other wouldn't.

I want to trade Camby, Miller and Batum to Cleveland for Ramon Sessions, JJ Hickson, Antwan Jamison and their #4 draft pick. I want to resign Miller after Cleveland releases him. With the #4 pick, I want to pick Jonas Valanciunas; I think three years from now he will be the best player from this draft. This trade improves our depth at the two places we need it, PG and big, maybe Aldridge has to become mostly a center. It gives us more offense (Jamison and Hickson better than Camby). And it gives us some hope in the future if Oden/Roy don't pan out.

Don't know if Cleveland would do it; if they really like Kanter or Valanciunas, they certainly have a need at center, but they also need a SF (Batum). If they don't like them, they can save some money with this deal, waive Miller, get rid of Session's three year contract and have Camby at less price than Jamison.

If I can't do that I go and if Valanciunas is available at #6, I trade Camby and Miller for Rashard Lewis bad contract and the #6 pick; also resign Miller after release. This one doesn't really help much. Don't know what to do about the PG position. we got two guys who might be NBA point guards some day. Maybe trade Miller straight up for Sessions and then resign Miller. (well, obviously I can't trade Miller twice, so this would just be if couldn't make either of the other two trades. Anyway Miller needs to be traded soon, since his contract is most valuable before the one year option has to be exercised)

I don't mind the first trade that much but i'd rather get Kanter if he is there, the second trade really hurts us in the short term as Lewis plays a position of 2 of our players at the moment and i'm not really high on Jonas Valanciunas. I think he is going to be the next Darko, a serviceable player but nothing special.

yeah, but with your luck in a decade they'd be overcome by Global Warming and turned into the Fiji Sandbars.

BTW, I really like UkraineFan's first trade but that probably means it can't be done :)

The more I think about it, the more I like Biyambo as a pick in any spot below Irving or Knight. And maybe even over Knight if we're getting someone like Sessions or Calderon or Ridnour or something back. I don't think you can have too many impact-defending big men with motors. And Malcolm Lee should be there at the end of the first round if you want a defending, Ben-Howland-PG
