The quarterback is the glamour position. A high profile signal caller who can led a team to glory or down the drains. Having a good quarterback is the key to success in these years of the NFL. So today i'll be ranking the 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL. For the purpose of this article if a team is on the fence about a quarterback then I fill the shoes of the front office and make a decision. Also I'm not judging a quarterback by their body of work in the NFL I'm judging them by how good a quarterback they will be this 2011-2012 season. There is only one quarterback per team so these are not the best quarterbacks in the NFL but the best STARTING ones. There are lots of good quarterbacks (Kevin Kolb, Vince Young, Jon Kitna, Carson Palmer) that are not on this list because they do not start. Without further adieu I present to you the 2011 NFL starting quarterbacks!
    32. John Beck (Washington Redskins)- There are many quarterbacks better than Beck, they just don't start for the Redskins. It's not clear whether Beck will start, though he is a high-character guy who is respected by teammates and coaches alike. And Mike Shanahan is a fan of Beck. Some are predicting an Aaron Rodger-esque climb to the top but he isn't just yet a first or second tier quarterback.
    31. Christian Ponder (Minnesota Vikings)- Yes, I am a non-believer in Ponder. The Vikings drafted him knowing he would have to step up and be the starting quarterback but he's not just ready for the big stage. That being said he is and absurd talent level assembled around him. With Sidney Rice, Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin in place, Ponder has Pro Bowl talent where he needs it.
    30. Andy Dalton (Cincinnati Bengals)- Dalton is NFL ready and he was drafted to be the successor to Carson Palmer. Palmer, who has requested a trade at the threat of retiring otherwise, will not be playing in Cincinnati any time soon. But don't feel too bad for the Bengals. They have the very accurate Dalton behind the reins and with targets such as Jordan Shipley, Jermaine Gresham and A.J. Green Dalton could have a good year.
    29. Charlie Whitehurst (Seattle Seahawks)- For now we're saying that Matt Hasselbeck leaves the Seahawks this summer and Whitehurst is made the starter. He is not completely clueless though. Whitehurst showed some potential in two starts during the Seahawks 7-9 season. His performance versus St. Louis allowed Seattle to make history, becoming the only team with a losing record ever to appear in and win a playoff game. He has talent around him and could be a competent NFL quarterback.
    28. Jake Locker (Tennessee Titans)- There is no doubt that Locker will be handed the starting job on a silver platter. Vince Young and Kerry Collins are both out of Tennessee. It would take a lot of hard work to screw this starting job up. But Locker will still struggle. Like all rookies do Locker will have his ups and downs but I am a firm believer he will do fine in the NFL.
    27. Alex Smith (San Francisco 49ers)- For this list I have draft pick Colin Kaepernick sitting behind Smith though he could take his spot any time during the season. He is a good quarterback that had a tough break with seven different offensive coordinators in San Francisco. But now with Jim Harbaugh and his first solid group of receivers things are looking up for Smith in San Fran!
    26. Chad Henne (Miami Dolphins)- The Dolphins must see something in Henne because they didn't draft one quarterback this year. But if he is the quarterback of the future the 'Fins are in pretty decent shape. He has a great arm and with a fresh running game headed by Daniel Thomas and a focused Brandon Marshall at receiver, Henne should enjoy success but he is not a good decision maker and not accurate.
    25. Jason Campbell (Oakland Raiders)- Campbell is an underrated but competent quarterback. He has never had a strong receiving corp, but has continued to put up good numbers. But this year is looking up. This year he has Zach Miller at tight end along with Jacoby Ford at wide receiver, both talented players who along with Campbell may very well be in the playoffs next year.
    24. Colt McCoy (Cleveland Browns)- He had a solid rookie year and is looking to be the face of the Browns for the future. He is a good signal caller who Browns teammates and front office admire. He has drawn comparisons to Drew Brees who like him has a great amount of talent.
    23. Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions)- If Stafford stayed healthy for a whole season he would be so much higher on this list. But for now he has only played in 13 games through two seasons. He has Calvin Johnson, Titus Young and Brandon Pettigrew to throw to and if he stays healthy he has the talent to be an elite quarterback. If not he becomes, the dreaded word, a bust!
    22. Carolina Panthers (Cam Newton)- Newton is being handed the keys to the Panthers franchise to him. He can either run without or fall into obscurity. Newton can hurt defenses with his arm and legs equally, so we are thinking he will RUN with it. The Panthers will rely on him to make a quick transition to the NFL and he can. He has the talent to but he does not have targets. Steve Smith wants out of Carolina but Kealoha Pilares can always add to the worst receiving corps in the NFL.
    21. Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo Bills)- He is an under-rated quarterback on a team that may be able to break onto the NFL scene. With Stevie Johnson to throw to and an improving line Fitzpatrick could be a good quarterback next year. He isn't amazing and prolific but he gets whats needed to be done, done wether its on the air or on the ground.
    20. Mark Sanchez ( New York Jets)- While Sanchez is overrated and doesn't have incredible numbers he is the future of a capable Jets franchise. He has been great in the playoffs and with Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards headlining a good receiving corps Mark looks in good shape for next year.
    19. Donovan McNabb (Arizona Cardinals)- Right now the starter for Arizona is John Skelton but we are predicting they trade for McNabb. While it is late in his career McNabb will have Larry Fitzgerald to throw to which is always a plus. But McNabb will bring experience to the Cards and he is a difference-maker who will be a valuable acquisition to Arizona.
    18. Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs)- Cassel is coming off a great Pro Bowl year in which he threw 27 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. How will he fare in his third year in Kansas City? We predict it will a good year for the Chiefs. With targets like first-round pick Jonathan Baldwin, Dwayne Bowe and Tony Moeaki Cassel should have a good year.
    17. David Garrard (Jacksonville Jaguars)- There is no doubt that Garrard will spend the 2011 season trying to fight off first-rounder Blaine Gabbert. But for now he has the starting job and if he makes the most of it, he could keep that spot the whole year. Garrard is a decent quarterback who is accurate and has a good arm but can scramble when needed to. There are two ways Garrard could take the pressure of fighting Gabbert. He could fail under the pressure and hand the starting job away or he could shine under the pressure and led Jacksonville to the playoffs.
    16. Sam Bradford (St. Louis Rams)- Bradford single handily carried the Rams to within one win of the playoffs last year. Fighting off injures Bradford won Offensive Rookie of the Year and showed he can become an elite quarterback. This year the Rams will be better though Bradford will have to be great again as St. Louis doesn't have depth at receiver.
    15. Kyle Orton (Denver Broncos)- Orton will have to fight Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn for the right to the starting job but we believe this underrated player will get the start under John Fox. Orton has a good group of receivers and his talent will shine threw as he has a great arm and accuracy.

i usually don't like ranking rookies but the whole panthers organization did just put their future in the hands of newton

    Bring McCoy and Stafford up.

Lower McNabb, Fitzy, Garrard, and Newton.

mccoy doenst have many targets but agreed i should have moved him maybe 1 spot, stafford has too many injury problems
mcnabb had larry fitzgerald to throw to (always a plus for a qb)
fitzy is underrated he has a strong arm and this may be his coming out year with stevie johnson
garrad is a fine qb but i should have moved him lower because he will probes lose his spot
newton still has no experience so it could go either way

McCoy has better instincts than most of the QBs you have ahead of him, but his lack of targets does set him back.

When healthy, Stafford is so much better than McNabb it's not even funny. And for now, he's still with Washington. McNabb is washed up, i've heard Kornheiser and David Aldridge complain about him enough at least to know that much. He can't make reads, his arm strength isn't what it used to be, and his skill set doesn't match Shanahan's game-planning.

Fitzy is awesome, I love the Amish Rifle, but he's peaked in terms of how far his talent can take him. It's obvious Buffalo didn't take a QB this year --not because Fitzpatrick was more than good enough to be the franchise QB-- because they needed D to supplant it's future. Oh, and Andrew Luck is twice the QB of any one in this year's draft. They've had their eyes set on him for 2 years now.

And I've written pages upon pages for my dislike of Newton so I'm not gonna beat a dead horse with that POC.

Stafford should be way up that list. If the kid can stay healthy, Detroit is a scary team.

yes they want luck next year but for now they r stuck with ryan and i don't think thats a bad thing
newton is very debatable, we could argue on him for years

except be drafted! the bengals would not waste a draft pick on him if they didn't think he was the qb of now and the future
