    Chad Ford/DXpress Twitter:

    - Davis Bertans saying in the draft.

    - Lucas Noguiera has withdrawn from the draft. Couldn't get a first-round promise. Has been listed at 7'0", measured 6'9" (w/o shoes) at the EuroCamp. The measurements usually taken from the Nike Hoop summit are notoriously inaccurate.

    - Nikola Mirotic staying in the draft. Doesn't care if he goes in the second round. Will stay in Europe for three more years. Would have been a top-10 pick if it weren't for contract issues. A good long-term investment if you have money to burn for an additional pick.

    - Andrew Albicy has also withdrawn. Batum's buddy and fellow Frenchman.

Glad Bebe pulled out of the draft, I didn't want any part of that. After reading Freeman's article about the overseas guys and how they aren't coming over anytime soon, I'm doubting we go the foreign route this year. Nate wants to win now & Paul wants to win now = Kenneth Faried imo.

DX just released there strengths and weakness video breakdown of Darius Morris.

    http://www.draftexpress.com/article/...reakdown-3740/

He's big, but really lacks quickness and explosiveness. Worry about his ability to operate off the ball as he had an Evan Turner type role in college where he handled the ball a ton for Michigan.

I also question his ability to defend pg's, which is important because he isn't close to being a good enough shooter to slide to the 2 and be a combo guard.

I think Nate wanting to win now actually DOES mean drafting a Euro (my guess: Mirotic) so that we don't take up a roster spot with ANOTHER rookie.

Interesting stats from ESPN (Chris Forsberg) on Kenneth Faried:

I'd love Faried, we need a backup 4 who rebounds and locks down the defense part and if we are not bringing Freeland over then he is the best player for that at or around our pick. Imagine a lineup of Crash/Faried/Oden while LMA gets some rest on the bench, will the other team even get a rebound with those three on the floor?

NBADraft.net has Biyombo falling all the way to 20, i really doubt that happens, but if it does they need to do everything they can to move up a few spots and get him.

Am I the only one who just doesn't get excited about the draft when we have such a bad pick. I know we can trade up, but whoever we get at that number just won't help us. This happens every season and for what? People were actually predicting Babbitt was going to help us win games. I am not one to say, "I was right, I was right!", but go back and look after we acquired him...... posters on here actually thought he was going to get playing time! Just can't get worked up about a 20 something pick.

Are there never any great picks after the lottery picks? There is always a chance we get a good player. I happens every year for at least a few teams that pick in the 20s. The chance is what gets me excited.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

2008 mid-late first round picks: Robin Lopez, Roy Hibbert, JaVale McGee, J.J. Hickson, Courtney Lee, Serge Ibaka, Nicolas Batum, George Hill, Darrell Arthur

2009: Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson, Jeff Teague, Eric Maynor, Darren Collison, Omri Casspi, Rodrigue Beaubois, Taj Gibson, Toney Douglas

2010: Eric Bledsoe, Jordan Crawford, Greivis Vasquez

Those are all players that I think could have helped our team and they were all drafted from 15-30 in the first round. There actually seems to be a better chance than I thought of getting a pretty good player.

Just listened to DXpress' latest podcast and he isn't a big fan of Jeremy Tyler.

He played in a league that's very weak and played like he's a long way away from being a solid big. Basically he said he's a long-term project that you'll have to teach the game of basketball to -- lacks in the bball-IQ department. We did this once and it took a better part of a decade before he started to produce: Travis Outlaw.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

While I don't completely disagree with you, I do think there is a HUGE difference between teaching a big man to rebound and block shots vs other positions. PG is the hardest, then sg/sf then FP, then C.

It is still a long process, but Travis could not shoot a jumper or dribble his first summer league game. (I was there) A center will rarely ever have to dribble or shoot a jumper. So he is already further a long just because of his position.
